How do you think reformer compares to say, a mat or dvd pilates class?
I'm going to try it and want to be prepared.
Re: Starlily and MBOC
I think it's more difficult because you are working with spring resistance. The tension can be adjusted heavier or lighter for your level of fitness, but it does make a considerable difference when you are doing arm or leg exercises.
Many of the ab specific exercises are comparable to what a mat routine feels like, but there are some moves utilizing the reformer that seem to hit your muscles at a deeper level.
Cool! I'm pretty excited to try it.
Reformer good.
Mat bad.

I agree that I think the reformer classes are more intense, but for me, working on the machine is way more fun that just working on the mat.
This is also true. My 50-min. classes seem to fly by, whereas the 20-min. tape I used to do seemed so very long.
I really don't, but I had physical therapy for my back a few years ago and a lot of it was on the reformer. I LOVED IT!! It was hard work, but so much more fun than your typical mat pilates. You should def. try it!
