sbs, dandy and other nano'ers

How's it coming for you? How many words do you have so far?

I hit a hurdle today and struggled big time with POV on Sunday. Bleh. Think I only have around 3k. Does 50,000 seem daunting to anyone else?

Question: I haven't uploaded officially onto NaNos site yet. If you go back and make changes to what you've already written, does it recalculate for you or once you upload it, it's uploaded and no going back? Thanks guys! Hope yours are going well!?

Re: sbs, dandy and other nano'ers

  • I'm only at about 1,500 words, but it's been a rough school/work week (and it's only Wednesday! Gah!). I plan on devoting a good chunk of time tonight to write, so we'll see how that goes...

  • I have about 5,000 words so I'm a little behind what you're "supposed" to have after 3 days.

I think it's coming okay, I mean I'm sure it will look like crap when I finally reread it but that's the point right?! :)

I haven't actually been to the NaNo site since it started, so I can't help you there

  • oh, and I keep having problems with tense! i'll write in past tense for 5 pages and then all of the sudden switch to present tense.

What was your issue with POV?

  • Congrats on your 5k Dandy, that's great! I also posted this on the NBC, a lot of gals there are doing it as well. They all said just to keep writing and don't look back. One even said she hasn't re-read at all what she's written. I think I need to just start doing that.?

My POV issues were mainly a 1st vs. 3rd thing. I currently have two characters in first and one in 3rd, I'm a hot mess. But they're right--we will have plenty of time to fix it later, the main thing is to just get it all out there. Eh. Easier said than done for me :)

    ?

  • I just reread the first pep talk. This is my favorite quote:

"You can revise a bad first draft into a great book. But you can't revise a blank page into anything but a blank page"

    More writing!
