Engagement Party Gift?

I'm going to an E-party and the bride and groom live on the other side of the country.  I'd like to get them something small that they can easily take home with them, that might come in handy while wedding planning.  I was thinking a gift certificate - anyone have any ideas of what kind of gift cert? maybe toward one of their registries?

Re: Engagement Party Gift?

  • A gift certificate for one of their registries is always nice.

I like to give a gift certificate to a restaurant with the note that says something along the lines of....wedding planning can be such a busy time, I hope you use this to take a break from the planning and just focus on enjoying each other's company.

Obviously you would word it better than I did, but you know what I mean.

I would do the gift cert to a resturant - planing a wedding is a really busy time, so it is nice to have the option to spend some time alone together.

  • Do they have a monogram?  I got an embosser with a monogram I liked on it during my engagement (for Christmas though).  We used it for so many things during the wedding process.  We embossed envelopes for the invites, save the dates, and thank you's.  You can also use it on cocktail napkins and things like that. And it is something they can use for the rest of their lives too on Christmas cards and such.

Not sure how close you are to the bride, this may be something she wants to have a say in.

  • One of my fav gifts during my engagement party was a HUGE box of thankyou cards and a nice pen!  I used it for that party, the showers, after my bachelorette and a few other things, I thought it was a great idea!

  • I second the idea of stationery or an embosser.  I love a good bundle of cotton letterpress.  You can look at embossers at wgpress.com.  I got one for our invitations with my address (I had my own home and the return address was my own) and I used it for everything, including Christmas cards.  I'd just get their new initials if they're moving.
  • Love the emblosser idea, but I think you'll need to order that (not real helpful for a party tonight).

I also think a nice set of thank you notes or note cards is a great gift.

  • I love the ideas given so far.

I'd look into gift certificates/credits at one of the online photo labs like Clark, Snapfish or Winkflash.  They are going to have a lot of photos of the e-party, showers, b-parties, RD and other wedding-related activities for which they will want 4x6's prints.

My fav e-party gift was a cookbook for couples/newlyweds.  Both Better Homes and Gardens and Williams Sonoma have great versions.

  • Thanks for all the great ideas!! I'm definitely going to look into these.
