Snack Ideas?

I've gotten so many good recipies here, that I thought I'd ask for more help.

This weekend I'm heading to a girls weekend of shopping and crafting.  It is my job to bring some snacks.  There are no food issues and no picky eatters.  Suggestions?

  • Cheese and Crackers, party mix, veggies and dip, fruit and dip, trail mix with peanuts/m n m's/ raisens, carmel corn are some simple ideas that pop into my head.

  • Want to be loved forever?

    - Line a jelly roll pan (aka a rimmed cookie sheet) with foil and place saltines over the bottom of the pan.

    - In a saucepan, boil 1 c butter and 1 c brown sugar for 5 minutes.

    - Pour butter/sugar mix over saltines.

    - Bake saltines for 5 mins at 350*.

    - Pour package of choc chips over hot saltines and spread them with the back of a spatula as they melt.  (It'll take a minute of them sitting on the hot saltines to get spreadable.)

    - Sprinkle 6 oz of brickle chips (Heath chips) over the choc.

    - I sprinkle a little coarse salt or fleur de sel over, but that's optional.

    - Refrigerate the tray for a couple hours, then take it out and break the candy into pieces like peanut brittle.  (I take the foiled saltines out of their tray and grab it with sort of a wax paper envelope in both hands to keep from getting sticky and touching every piece.)  Layer into a tin with wax paper.

    - Print copies of the recipe because everyone will ask and they'll all be stunned to find out it tastes just like their Grandma used to make for Christmas except that it only takes 15 mins to make.

  • I like bringing a tray with pita bread cut into wedges, grape leaves, olives and tzatziki.
  • Sex in a Pan is always a hit with my girlfriends....

i realize its more of a dessert, but we eat on it all day.

you could also make reuben dip or crack dip.

  • Wheat thins and make this really easy ranch dip: buy a block of cream cheese and mix in, to taste, a package of dry ranch dressing mix. Make sure to only add as much as you like, one time I put too much in..ick. Lol. But it's a quick and easy snack that tastes great.

This is one of my favorite recipes!  Got it on a recipe card for my bridal shower and every time I make it, people go crazy.

  • Thanks for all the great ideas!  I have made the saltine cookies before, and I agree, they are terrific.
