Well, my hair is falling out

It's started! I'm shedding like crazy now that my hormones are changing again!

Re: Well, my hair is falling out

  • Yup.  I'm surprised I'm not bald yet.  This is ridiculous!

  • Ditto.  Mine started last week.  I am used to it though, I have always had so much hair that I felt like could make a wig after each shower so to me its ust back to normal!!  lol
  • The only way I got it to stop was to get pregnant again - LOL!
  • Mine is too...I can't stand it, I am finding it all over the place.

  • Mine started falling out this week.  Sad  It's not a massive loss (yet) but it IS falling out ... one strand at a time ...
  • I just noticed mine coming out in the shower yesterday...it's been a LONG time since that's happened....

  • Okay, clueless pg woman here ... what's this all about?  Now that you mention it, I have noticed less hair falling out in the shower.  Does this mean that it's slowing down and will start back up again once the baby comes?  Shed a little light, oh wise mommies!

*sigh* yeah, when you get PG, it seems your hair gets nice and thick and/or stops falling out because of hormones...then after you are PG and your hormone levels drop, usually you start shedding like crazy - I find it EVERYWHERE, all over my shirt, in the sink, in the shower, tangled in Austin's fingers...everywhere now....my SIL claims hers came out in clumps - YIKES!

My fingernails use to grow like weeds and be nice and strong when I was PG too, but now they take longer to grow...

  • Kirsten, as Lisa said, it is all hormonally related.  When you're pregnant, your hair hangs on but a few months after you've had your baby, your hormones change yet again (after the other changes they've already been through, that is!), causing your hair to start letting go.  Some women notice that their hair doesn't get any thinner than it was pre-pg but others notice that it does wind up thinner.  I am hoping to be in the former category, not the latter.  Smile
  • Ugh, it's awful, isn't it?  I am still shedding!
  • I noticed when I cut mine shorter that it stopped around 9 months. Thankfully, it was everywhere!
  • Interesting!  I have always been a shedder and am used to having hair everywhere ... and I didn't even really think about it until I read this post that I haven't noticed nearly as much in the last month or so.  Huh!  :)
