DH and I have decided...

after our trip up to the Lake yesterday, that we are making it a long term goal to get a house on the Lake for our family. Definitely.

:)

Re: DH and I have decided...

  • That's a great idea!  We want to do something like that too...either a beach condo or lake cabin...we stayed with some friends a few years ago in Idaho at their cabin on a lake and it was quite possibly the cutest thing EVER, ok not as cute as Jack or Mister haha.  And they didn't do a thing with it, covered in dust, old dingy linens, like they never used it...I told Rob after that, that if we had one of those little cabins we'd be there every weekend! I am telling you they even had a swing on the porch that was an old ski lift chair, heaven!!!!
  • My parents have a cottage on the lake and I've always loved it, - so much so we got married outside in front of the lake.  Now I can't wait to take the twins up there. GL with your goal!
  • That's a great idea!  Our long term goal is to buy a timeshare at Disney so we can go once a year.  ;)

  • we basically bought our current house because of it's close proximity to water.  We just don't have the pay the waterfront taxes and it's such a short walk especially now that we know about our right of way to the pond.
  • My ILs have a house up  on the lake- I love going up there. One of the reasons I put up with my crazy ILs :) (J/K Allison.. I love you)
  • One of my goals is for you to get a house on the lake so that I can come visit - LOL!!

Glad to hear you had a great time!

  • My parents dream is to live on a lake, they talk about it all the time.  They are hoping to sell their house in the next 3-5 years (once the market gets a little bit better and/or stablizes) and start looking for lake homes.

When we first started looking for houses (four years ago) we looked at a few on lakes, but in our price range all the ones we saw were MAJOR fixer-uppers.  It just wasn't worth it.  We are a little (scratch that, make at A LOT) leery living so close to any body of water now no matter how big or small, so I think we will stick to our hill.  Too bad..we would have enjoyed living on lake.

  • DH and I had this conversation during our lakeside road trip on the 4th. I asked him if he thought we'd ever have a house on a lake, as it's always been a dream of mine (and his too, actually). His response? "Do you want to be a mom? Or have a house on a lake? You can't have both." I didn't think that was fair!!! I'm sure there are plenty of "middle-income" people who have kids and a house on the lake, ya just gotta work a bit harder and make some compromises, like anything else. I WILL have my house on the lake someday, dammit :)
  • That's great Heather! Just think of all the fond memories you'll make for your kids :)
