Thoughtful (inexpensive) gifts

My best friend and I always buy gifts for each other every year for Christmas.  She always seems to get me much more thoughtful gifts than I come up with for her.  I want to show her how much I care this year.  I only have about $50 to spend, but I'm willing to put in some leg work to make something.

She's a SAHM with three kids, 4 years and under.  She likes to cook and bake.  She likes to read and enjoys movies.  She's pretty involved with her church and attends a Bible Study each week with her DH and kids.

Any great ideas?  I'm stumped.

Re: Thoughtful (inexpensive) gifts

  • What about a personalized apron or if you want to pamper her a bit, a personalized bathrobe?  A digital picture frame might be a good idea too.

  • why not a goodie basket of the things she likes to do?  how about a book that you've read and think she might enjoy, her favorite movie/s, gift cards to a local bookstore, make a recipe book of your favorite recipes that she (and her family) would enjoy...etc.     another thought, a gift certificate for a massage or for a spa day.

  • 1. Digital frame with pictures already loaded in.

    2. Make a scrapbook of pictures of the 2 of you fun things or of her kids.

3.Since she likes cooking how about making her a recipe book. You can get recipes online that you think she might like and put it together, then buy her some ingredients/accessories to make it. Plus I like the apron idea.

  • You could make her a calendar using snapfish or something (pretty cheap) and on some pages where the picture goes, have pics of her children, some pages have recipes instead of pictures, and some pages you could tape or glue a gift card to a bookstore.

  • A date night out with her DH (restaurant g/c for $30 and movie g/c for $20) and a coupon for free babysitting Wink
  • personalcreations.com has a bunch of really cute personalized gifts (very thpoughtful!)  for great prices!  They often send coupons if you sign up for emails and there is always one in the entertainment coupon books!

    THIS.

  • I like the night out suggestion.  If you can't do that, I like the personalized apron...maybe do a basket with a couple cool cooking gadgets too and/or g.c. to borders for a cookbook (or hint around and see if she wants a specific one)?
