Hi! I'm new here!

Hello!

This is my first time posting to the Nest community. I just got married this past September on the 26th and it was amazing! My hubby and I are just settling into our married life and having a great time. We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon and it was so hard to leave!

I'd love to meet other newlyweds on here! I went to MSU  (2007 grad! yea!) and couldn't get enough of the fantastic atmosphere, so we decided to stick around the Lansing area. It's such a wonderful community.

I have a question for all the newly married -- do you miss the planning process?? I LOVE all the free time, but then again I miss all the excitement of planning for the big day. What have you done to fill that void, that is if you feel that way too?

Re: Hi! I'm new here!

  • Hi! Welcome to the Nest :) I too am a newbie, I was just married on October 10th... Jamaica is beautiful and sounds like you had a great time! As far as your question, I am also coming off the wedding planning syndrome lol! For me, I stay busy with my 3yo bonus son, working full time and taking classes online and in the evening through LCC (all of which I was doing while planning the wedding so I still have more free time than before but not so much I'm bored.) I guess it has helped that we have moved on to our next two big projects that keep me excited, looking for our first home and my DH starting his own business. I think if you find something else to look forward to, that helps. I'm a planner and love to think a head and feel so bored without something to look forward to! Maybe a vacation, home, baby, cooking or craft class... find something you enjoy and focus on that. If all else fails, LCC has a wedding planning certificate, you could always go to school and do it for a living ;) Oh and p.s. GO GREEN!!! <3
  • Hi!

I was married on September 19th in Jackson.  Where did you stay in Jamaica?  We are probably going down there for my husbands friend's wedding in February.  I have only been there once and that was just for a port on a cruise.  I am kind of bummed that the wedding is over :-)  I had a lot of fun planning my wedding.  We were engaged for almost a year and I only had maybe a handful of stressful moments.  It was so easy.  I want to find someone who will let me help plan their wedding :-)  Right now there are tons of things we want to do to the house.  I bought it 4 years ago which was 2 and a half years before I even started dating my husband.  We are now going to redo some things and make room for his things.  That will keep us busy for a while.

  • Welcome and congrats on your marriage! We have been married since '06 but I can remember really missing all the planning right after the wedding was over. I think it lasted a few months and it took some getting used to...having all that free time after planning for over a whole year.

Do you scrapbook at all? You could work on your wedding scrapbook...or even take up a new hobby. I don't have time for hobbies so I can't really suggest any. lol

But congrats again and hope to see you at a future GTG
