Joe Buck is a dbag

Seriously? You are going to say something about Ruiz going to talk to Pedro once, when Posada wore a path to the mound the other night? Learn how to effectively call a baseball game. I can't stand listening to him.

Re: Joe Buck is a dbag

  • To be fair, Ruiz did go after exactly one pitch had been thrown.
  • Posada went have EVERY SINGLE pitch was thrown for a whole inning. It doesn't compare.
  • But not after the very first pitch thrown in the game.  I've seen a helluva lot of baseball games in my lifetime.  I can count on one finger the number of times I have seen the catcher go to the mound after the very first pitch of the game.  If it doesn't happen often, you can't be surprised when someone comments on it.

ETA: and this is coming from someone who watches the Yankees play--you know, the team that makes a point of slowing games down as much as possible.

  • You know what, I spoke too soon.  I can count on two fingers the number of times I've seen it happen, but the other time was because the ump had dropped dead of a heart attack behind the plate and the game was stopped for about a half hour.

    Oh geez. that's not good.

I honestly don't know if I've ever payed attention to the catcher talking to the pitcher, so i couldn't tell you if I've seen it before. It annoyed me more that he had to make all this dumb comments about it, like it was the first time a catcher had ever taken a walk to the mound. I really dislike Joe Buck and think he sucks all around as a baseball sportscaster.

Yeah, the Reds took some heat for continuing the game after the ump died, but it was Opening Day and Opening Day in Cincinnati is huge.

For the record, I greatly dislike Joe Buck as well.

  • Um, I was finishing up dinner so I didn't catch this play, but Joe Buck is known in my household for his in-depth football commentary "that's good football." Dude is an idiot.
  • Dude annoys me more than Susan Waldman, and that's saying alot.

    HAHAHA, Love it!

  • Joe Buck just cheers and comments on whatever team is winning and dogs whatever team is losing. I agree though that the Yankees pretty much set-up camp at the mound the whole series. I'm not a Yankees fan and I barely watch them but thats one of the very first things I noticed, regardless of their reasons why they do it...they do it.

That's one of he reasons I'm against instant replays in baseball because coaches would so use to their advantage. Not to mention the game is already a 3 hours long, it would just add more time to it. The Yankees played well and they deserved the win but I still lvoe my Phillies = )

  • He is such a dbag, just all around.  He barely makes sense and he is obnoxious.  He is biased towards whatever team he wants to win and is a terrible broadcaster.  Plus, IMO you should never broadcast more than one sport.

Did anyone catch him and McArthur talking for a good 15 minutes about Brett Myers' BOWLING during Saturday's game!?  Not to mention that during last night's game (2nd-3rd inning) he made the comment "It will take the Yankees at least 6 games to get past the Phillies."  So much for unbiased broadcasting.

I can't stand him, but I think he's much worse at calling football than baseball. At least with his dad, I think he knows what some of the MLB terminology is. When he calls an NFL game he has no idea why a play is challenged, what a hold is, or anything else relating to the rules. It's embarrassing.
