good restaurants near Bradley???

popping in with a quick question, I am usually on the RI board.

DH and I are flying out of Bradley on a very, very early morning flight, so we are staying at the airport the night before.  We would like to have a good meal as a nice way to start our vacation (1st one without baby).  Looking for some recommendations.  No chains please... TIA

Re: good restaurants near Bradley???

  • How close to Bradley do you want it to be? Are you staying at a hotel on rt 75 (ella grasso turnpike?) In Windsor there is a restaurant called Tunxis something it's on rt 75, no more than 10 minutes from the Double Tree, it looks really nice from the outside but I haven't eaten there yet. In East Granby (behind the airport but still only 10 minutes away) there is J&Gs or Gios both have good pizza as well as good dinners. There is Suffield Pizza or Francescos in Suffield (also 10 min away, but the other direction). There isn't much in Windsor Locks for a nice sit down dinner that isn't a chain. There is the Skyline which is right on rt 75 but I would go to J&G or Gios first. HTH
  • thanks for the suggestions.  Yea, we were hoping for a nice relaxing meal.  Is going into West Hartford unrealistic?
  • I don't think it is! It's about 20- 25 from the airport - but WELL worth the drive -there are lots of good places:

Here is a list of places in "the center or blue back" areas - about 5 minutes from the highway.

Bricco- MY FAVORITE (real name is Restaurante Bricco)

    Grant's

    Besito (Mexican)

    Max's Oyster Bar

    Risoto's

There is even more - but that is a good start for you! These will run you a little bit more than a chain - but offer great food!!

HTH let me know if you need more info!

  • awesome, thanks!  I checked out a couple of those web-sites...exactly what I was looking for!
  • I hope you and DH have a great trip! While I have no kids - I can imagine how nice it will be to get away just the two of you!

    Live it up!

  • thanks!  Yes, we are in need of this vacation, where we will relax at the beach and pool, and drink lots of yummy cocktails (in Mexico).  Thanks again for the suggestions.
  • My personal favorite in West Hartford is Elbow Room. Have a great time!!
  • If you go into West Hartford and love burgers, you need to try Max Burger... omg so good! And pretty inexpensive as well.
