A Positive about not winning

A positive to Philly not winning the world series....we won't have to worry about how we are going to get to a parade since Septa is still on strike.

Stick out tongue

Re: A Positive about not winning

  • Haha I actually thought about this!

Side Note: No offense to Septa employees, but I haven't gotten a raise in 2.5 years and I have had my insurance coverage decreased, but my contribution increased.  In that time, my DH also lost his job.  I do not feel sorry for them, nor do I think their demands are reasonable for this economy.

ETA: I probably should have posted that on the Philly board, but I like it here! :)

  • I agree. They are complaining about only getting a dollar raise. I'll take their dollar raise, because my hours and salary were cut this year, and like you I had to pay more for my insurance. I have no sympathy for them and the 11% raise they want.
  • Yeah, I would definitely take any raise at this point.  I understand that what they're being offered isn't what they had anticipated when they negotiated their old contract, but circumstances have changed since then and compared to the rest of us, their deal seems sweet.

  • haha I thought of that too!! Last year I took the Regional Rail at 7:55 and I was the last train to go into the city, from Media we didn't even stop at any other places!

    What is Septa?

SouthEastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.  The union workers in the city are on strike (again) because they want something like an 11% raise over 5 years and to only have to contribute 1% to their health benefits.  Basically what they are asking for is inconsistent with the state of the economy and has essentially shut down mass-transit in the city with the exception of the rail lines which are now jam-packed with people who need to get to the city to work.  It's a huge mess.
