I am planning a 60th birthday party for my father-in-law for next month. I was trying to think of any little things that we could incorporate or have at the party for this milestone birthday. I wasn't sure what exactly - I cannot pinpoint what I am thinking. I just was wondering if we should add another element other than just family getting together and dinner. Or maybe that is enough and I am over thinking it. Anyone have ideas that they can share of milestone birthday events they have hosted or attended? Thank you!
PS - Event is small, about 20 people and will be a dinner at a restaurant in a semi-private room.

Re: 60th Birthday Party
a Mass? a featured entertainer ie singer/piano or guitar player might make it nice. sometimes a high-school youth orchestra will perform for the experience.
or perhaps a sketch artist to be there?
i was at a wedding where there was a tribute to a deaceased mother and there was a projector showing pictures of the family.
maybe a family talent show?? let each family member perform something as a gift? read/recite a poem or sing.
I was going to recommend getting a solo acoustic guitar player as well.
Maybe some one that specializes in Beatles Covers?
If you don't know where to look call a local hotel that does weddings/events and ask to speak to a wedding manager.
See if they have anyone they can recommend of a vendors list.
