So my husband and I just got married last month and he's in between jobs. No surprise we don't have extra money for the holidays.
Does anyone have any ideas of things I can make for my family members??
Example: One year my mom made stepping stones with a picture of their family for all the grandparents and aunts. I thought that was cute but something along those lines that everyone will like but is inexpensive to make. HELP!!
Re: Crafty Gifts for All
I love doing jar mixes for extended family and co-workers. This site has a TON of recipe ideas.
Since you just got married, you could definitely do photo books or picture frames for everyone.

This was a thread I saved- it has tons of great ideas
Do you know how to knit or crochet? I learned in college and made scarves for holiday gifts... each scarf doesn't take a lot of time, and they're great gifts.
I've also done picture frames - the wooden ones that are inexpensive at craft stores look great when decorated with scrapbooking stickers or wooden cutouts that are painted.
What about beach bags with photos on them (print photos on the iron-on transfers - can be wedding or non-wedding photos).
Stencil a quote with a glass etching set onto a glass candle holder and get great smelling candles to go inside
Im broke as well. In fact every year Im broke at christmas and I usually use my credit card and then it takes me all year to pay that off. So this year I decided no more! Im making lil packages. I went and bought xmas mugs from the 99 cents store and Im going to put a single package of hot choc. in them as well as as marshmallows. Im going to wrap them up like the gift baskets except w/o the basket and throw hersheys kisses and candy canes around them.(all the stores have candy on sale 50% off right now) I wanted to get a lil creative so I went and collected pine cones from outside and Im going to spray paint them white (I found the snow spray paint for $1 at the 99 cents store as well) Im gonna tie them all up in that clear wrapping paper with a red ribbon and have these cute tiny xmas pic frames attached to the ribbon (i found them at target for $1) ..All together Im spending less then $10 on each couple in my family when I used to spend at least $20 a person. Im sooo excited about this cuz I think it will turn out cute..
a few years ago I made homemade kahlua and put it in a gift basket with glasses (from dollar store) chocolate covered spoons,
this year I am making the knot tied fleece blankets for my family
I have also done homemade candles, bath ball things, and my mom does etched glasses or vases.
Many years ago my aunt made these really beautiful potpourri jars. She got large canning jars and filled them with a strand of small white lights (dollar store) and a bag of potpourri. Instead of putting the jar lid on, she got a dioly and ran a piece of ribbon through it to make it fit over the hole of the jar. People plug the lights in to heat the potpourri and make it smell.
It looks beautiful as a night light and smells a good part of the house. It's hard to describe but they are really nice.
I want to know how to make homemade kahlua!!! Do you still have the recipe?
