f/u: Spike's eye-gouging

Apparently he is now sitting out a whole game.  While I think this is a more appropriate punishment, it should have been so since the begining. It makes us look even more foolish to go back and change it after the backlash.

Re: f/u: Spike's eye-gouging

  • If I understand correctly (Mike and Mike this morning) this young man took it upon himself to go to the coaches and suggest that this was a distraction and he wanted to sit the whole game

kudos to this young man, and shame on the coaching staff at Florida

Yes Unfortunately, I'm sure he won't get any from the talking heads.  Haters, all of them.  Wink

Yeah, i've since seen another article which specified that it was his decision. That makes me feel a lot better about it. The first article didn't say that. I thought Urban changed his mind, which was silly.

  • I was really really impressed when Spikes volunteered to sit out the whole game. You wouldn't see UGA or FSU kids doing that.

I'd like to hope that isn't true I like to give these kids the benefit of the doubt until the prove otherwise

If this is true then congrats to him.  That was a very considerate action, especially he is being made an example of.

I heard this on the radio yesterday morning heading to work. I am glad that he took it upon himself to do this. I also agree with the announcer that it is Vandy who they are playing on Saturday. No big deal. Had the game been FSU or Alabama it would have been totally different.
