I'm seriously bummed...I've never had any major dental work done, besides fillings.  Apparently I have a crack in my tooth, which is the source of all the pain.

I have never had one, but I have heard they have come leaps and bounds in how they do them now, so hopefully you will be ok! I just had a filling this summer, it had been years since my last, and it was not bad at all!

I have a crack/chip in my very back molar too and I need to get it filled before it's bad enough that I need a root canal, but I'm so scared to go to the dentist!  I've never had a filling before (just a couple of teeth sealed).

I won't lie, I'm a little on scared side, but it sounds like it won't be as bad as I'm anticipating.  MrsB - that's definitely the case with a filling, they aren't so terrible.

Unfortunately, I've had two.  It's not that bad. Just a little longer in the chair and numbness/soreness lasts a little longer (than a filling).  But a good excuse for a milkshake!

Honestly, the tooth pain you're experiencing prior to the root canal is much, much worse than the actual procedure.
