TV follow-up (kind of)

The plot thickens.

Apparently this Saturday I could potentially purchase (limited quantites withstanding) a 42" LCD for $500 at two stores. Would I be silly to pass this up? Should I really push for this with DH?

And if I do buy it, how do you feel about this tv stand?

$500 is a really good price for that size tv, and I really like the stand too! I think if it's something you really want you should push for it with your husband.  Just make sure the tv has everything you would want... like 1080i, enough input plugs for dvd players, good quality, those types of things

I vote YES!! And I really like the stand too. It's similar to ours, so when Chazzy comes to visit his Aunt Mamie, he'll feel right at home.

I thought of you last night because I noticed that Wal-Mart is having a sale on flat-screen TVs on Saturday. I'm still holding out until Black Friday b/c I'm brand-obsessed with Samsung, but this is a great deal. Love the TV stand too.

vh - yep, WM is one of the places I'm considering. I don't think I can handle Black Friday madness, so I'm trying to avoid any crowds and broken bones I can!

Do you know what brands they are on sale?  I checked out the WM ad for Saturday cause DH and I are buying one on Black Friday as well.  He's also brand obsessed and says it must be Sony/Samsung or maybe Panasonic depending on the model and it has to be LCD (something about having too much light in our living room for plasma - I'm electronic-stupid so I dont know what that changes).

At WM it's Sharp.

But Best Buy is also having similar deals and I think one is a Panasonic.... I think. I'll try to find.

I found the BB one -- thanks.  FWIW, DH told me this morning when I brought up the WM sale -- "sharp is crap - I know 3 people who have bought one and hated it."  This being said, I have a 5 year old regular TV that's a sharp that I bought on sale and it works just fine (however, the speakers are starting to get bad... it cracks a little if you turn it up to loud but we solved that problem by running the sound through our surround sound system so it doesnt bother me.

What about doing a wall mount?  We did this with the one in our bedroom and I love that there is not a tv stand taking up space.  We put up a floating shelf for the dvd player.

Otherwise if you are set on a tv stand I like the one you picked out.

Mofe, While I love wall-mounted TVs, it would look weird in our living room with no furniture under.   

I tried to corner DH about it. All he could say was, "That's a lot of money."

Ooo I really like it, and the TV stand too! Try to convince him by saying you'll go out to eat less for like a month or something. That's usually what I say whenever I try to convince my husband to let me buy something .
