If so, what do you do? I'm looking for something I can do from home. I currently work in Media Production for a large company in Palm Beach County. I'd like to stay in this field but I'd be willing to switch. Any ideas? Thanks!
Re: Who works from home?
::raises hand::
Me!
I'm an Administrative Assistant and I work part time, mostly from home. I go into the office twice a week and as needed for special events.
My job isn't typically a "work from home" job though. I work for my brother and he makes allowances for me because I have restrictions because of my health.
I have heard of company's not wanting to let people go so they allow someone to work from home if possible in order not to lose them. Is that an option?
Other ideas would be to start your own business or to search job websites and see if there is something out there for you.
Good luck!
I have restrictions because of a health issue as well, which is one of the reasons working from home would be ideal. The other reason I am looking elsewhere is because I am being laid off from my current position because they are changing the job desription and I don't have the training for the additional responsibilities. My current employer is offering me other options so they can keep me on the payroll. Just like you said, I think they would in fact like to keep me but it wouldn't be the same salary. I'd be more than willing to stick with them but I'd need something in additon.
I've been searching all kinds of sites, but so far, no luck.
Thanks for the help!!
Ugh I feel you. I am so lucky that I work for my brother's company. I really need to be more appreciative of that.
Have you talked to your job about your health concerns? Perhaps they can make a job for you to work at home with enough pay. If it's not enough income, have you thought about doing something else, like selling Avon or Mary Kay or something? I know a lot of people that do that as well.
I also thought about starting my own business, creating invitations/paper goods, but I don't have the time. Do you have a skill like that which you can do from home?
Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you!
Your responses are hitting way too close to home!!
My Mother works for Mary Kay and she's pretty high up there. I've tried Mary Kay but I didn't see enough income to really keep going. My Mom did suggest that I try it again, and maybe I will. I have thought about starting my own business too. Do you mind if I email you?
Thanks again!
I am a professional photographer, but that's not exactly something you can just "switch" into. It requires a lot of education and a very large monetary investment in equipment, professional membership, business licenses, and the aforementioned education.
But, I do work from home.
