So...still on the apartment hunt! I saw a townhome today that was pretty close to downtown hillsboro, but not sure aobut the area? I love to run/walk my dog, etc. and want a safe"r" neighborhood. (I did come from San Diego/Escondido and have lived in "not the best" spots) Any thoughts on HIllsboro? Love the townhome and price, but not sure about the area? (close to main st.?)
I also love a smaller place in Orenco....which I know is a safer area, right?
Any thoughts appreciated!
Thanks ladies!

Re: Is Hillsboro safe?
There's some nice neighborhoods around Glencoe High School... Orenco/Tanasbourne area is good... but I wouldn't feel comfortable pretty much anywhere else in Hilsboro... Off the top of my head, no I wouldn't live on Main Street...but, it would depend on the exact neighborhood, honestly.
After moving to a new area a few years ago and renting the CUTEST house in a bad neighborhood, and then seeing hookers giving BJ's while I was out walking my dog...I'm very careful now about neighborhoods. (That was 82nd and Foster, BTW, and there was a "massage parlor" that opened up 2 houses over form mine, and it's still there)
We lived in Orenco for a long time. It's really nice, always felt safe. But, I also know people who live around downtown and really like it as well. It's more the area that's downtown/western downtown thats sketchy. If you go back out the other side it's nice again.
Look for crime statistics. When they did that list of the safest areas in the country Portland-Metro had the lowest violent crime rate, and Portland-Metro includes/d Hillsboro.
