We got our wedding china, crystal and kitchen based fun last week, and I cooked an insane meal over the weekend...
So, I was wondering, what was the first meal you cooked on your new stuff?
Re: First meal?
I think we had roast chicken and veggies on our fancy China (we only got 2 sets) with a green salad with shaved pecorino and papaya seed dressing (yes, from HI!) Anytime we make something fancy, we break out those 2 sets and drink from our crystal glasses.
What did your "insane meal" consist of?
we have yet to use our fine China - in fact, this Thanksgiving will be the first time we break it out! we've always spent the holidays elsewhere so we never had the opportunity to use it
we are now just getting around to looking for a set of "everyday" dinnerware....we've been using old stuff we both already had since we got married (the stuff we both used in college
)

Ditto this! I can't wait to use it!
Can I just say that I freakin' love that you had burritos on your china Lisa!
That is awesome!
Meh, we don't own China. I didn't see the need.
However, we did get our everyday dishes for our wedding, so I use them all the time!
I went to the local farmer's market and bought local unpasteurized sheep's cheese - made some homemade crackers and marinated olives to go with it. Then I braised some lamb shanks in red wine (love the le crueset dutch oven) and did a traditional English Apple Cake with homemade pouring custard for dessert.
Served with wine and champagne because I wanted to break in both sets of glasses!

Yum!
We have yet to use ours....
Heh, well it's not fine china, just everyday wear. We'd have used our expensive pans to cook it in though lol.
LOVE my big Le Creuset! It's probably the one thing from my wedding that I use the most.

Last Thanksgiving was the first time we used ours, yep, it only took us 3 years!
ooh, great idea! we have sets of 8, but i would love to get 12...maybe i should start this next year...
we've been mostly using our old stuff too, sigh, though we'll sometimes break out the "everyday" stuff (which admittedly, was in the fine china section
). the fancy stuff is all sitting in boxes. but we haven't been married for 4 years yet
i have absolutely no clue what we ate on the everyday stuff for the first time. but alyson, your cooking sounds fabulous!!
