Newbie here! Just wanted to say hi!

Hey all! I am new to the KC area currently reside in Shawnee KS. I am expecting my first baby girl this Feb and am planning a home water birth. Just looking for other moms to connect with. If you are doing a water birth or have done one I would love to hear from you!

Re: Newbie here! Just wanted to say hi!

  • Hi!!! Welcome!

I wish I could help you out! Just wanted to say hi. Congratulations! Where did you move from? (if you don't mind me asking lol) This will be my 2nd year in Kansas City area. It has been good so far!

  • Hi there!

You might have more luck on the KC Baby Board re: home water births.

Just an FYI - you might want to change your user name, as vendors aren't permitted on the Nest. I know that you probably aren't here as a vendor, but with the name of your business in your user name, the Nest might think otherwise.

Thanks! I actually moved from MN. LOVE KC weather so much better! We are actually having fall which is a first for me :) Where did you move from?

  • Welcome! I don't have any kids yet, but I admire you for doing an at home birth! We've talked about it, but who knows what the future will bring?

Thanks :) I really think you mentally have to prepare yourself for it. One of my friends who did a home birth for her first child told me this "It comes down to you being able to trust that your body will do what God created it to do". That got me thinking that our bodies were made to have babies and while sometimes medical intervention is totally necessary the large majority of women can do a home birth. Before the 1950's some 90% of children were born at home. After doing some much needed research I was convinced it was the route for me. Here is to hoping it will go smoothly :)

  • Hey there, Dh and I moved down here almost 4 years ago from MN where we met in college. You might want to post this on the local KC board on thebump or one of the other many helpful boards there. I don't recall any women having a water birth on the KC board, but I could be wrong.
