Are a lot of you split couples re: your teams?
For example, I am Yankess and DH is Red Sox. I am a Dolphins fan, DH is Raiders. I went with the Penguins when the Whalers left town, dh is more Red Wings (we are not huge into hockey though). We agree on NBA and College basketball (Lakers and Uconn) but that's it.

Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010

For the most part, a house divided. I lived in NJ, PA, and NY before meeting DH. He lived in SoCal before meeting me. I rooted for the Yankees while he rooted for the Angels. Last year for the Rose Bowl, I rooted for Penn State while he rooted for USC. We met at grad school at Purdue, so we can agree on that one except when Penn State is kicking Purdue's butt at football! (Oh, um, and vice versa at basketball.
)
We actually like most of the same teams. We met in college [at Purdue University], so of course we agree on the Boilermakers.
Weirdly enough, the first time I met him, he had on a UK Wildcats hat, and I thought it was odd because we were at Purdue and I'd run into very few UK fans [I grew up near Louisville, KY and everyone there is either a Cards fan or a Cats fan - my family is/was Cats fans] in West Lafayette, IN. So we both support the same college teams - UK and Purdue.
We're both Colts fans, but I am crazy and like the Patriots too, mostly because of Tom Brady. It's kind of funny, but my roommate and I knew who Brady was when he played for Michigan [since we were Big Ten fans] and thought he was hot. Then, we were doing our usual Sunday football viewing in 2001 and suddenly he was playing in place of Bledsoe and we were like, hey that's that hot MI QB and have rooted for the Pats since.
Oh and we both also root for the Saints b/c we love Drew Brees. He was our QB for two of our years at Purdue, and my husband's claim to fame is that he high fived Brees a few times. He thinks that's really cool...
Neither of us are big baseball or hockey fans, though.
This made me LOL at my desk! Your DS is sooo cute, I love the hat! You're location is cracking me up too...
We met at U of Iowa and agree on all things HAWKEYES. He converted me from a half-hearted cubs fan (I got to go to a few games at Wrigley growing up, so that was why) to a full blown raging Twins fan.
He will NEVER turn me into a Vikings fan, though. Born and raised a Bears fan, we always give each other grief. Hey, at least the Bears have won a super bowl
He's also a huge Notre Dame football fan, and I've started cheering for them, too. It's fun because my HS fight song was the ND Fight Song. He gets mad bc I only know my HS lyrics and sing it loud and proud
Thanks!
We just moved from the northern suburbs of Indianapolis [where my in laws live] to TN, and that's #1 on my list of reasons to love Knoxville. No longer 10 minutes from my MIL!
I'm about 20 minutes from my DH's mother and do you know the last time I saw or spoke with her? ...Yeah, neither do I.
I'm a Yankees Fan, DH Red Sox
Islander's Fan, DH Bruins fan
And I'm trying to convert him to a Dolphins fan, he doesn't follow football.

Kindof, me, diehard Angels fan, DH, not a huge baseball fan but he considers his team to be the Dodgers, ugh!!!
eclaires and ND, Can I join your club? Last time I saw MIL was in January, prior to that, been several years and she lives less than 2 miles away! Her toxicity will kill a person.
BOOOOOOO! LET'S GO BIRDS
Sureee! Join the club!
The Nest Gods need to make a new board, "I have a MIL problem, not a DH problem." Mine is a total psycho. DH has no problem putting her in her place when she's out of line, but that doesn't make her less crazy.
haha, I think 99% of the reason I can laugh about my MIL is that my husband is the best at making fun of the crazy things she does, even to her face. She's not too toxic, just nutty and overbearing. Don't get me wrong, she's had her moments of toxicity, but for the most part, it's just her being wacky. Of course, I can say this now that I am 6 hours away from her. 3-4 months ago I probably would have been singing a different tune.
Lucky! Mine is just plain insane. Example, she "ranks" her kids and grandkids. No lie. DH and his siblings call each other by their rank, "Hey #1, it's #4, call me back." She even went so far to say that the first child to give her a granddaughter would automatically become #1 and the granddaughter would be her #1 grandchild. She is not joking. She told DH's 1yo niece (yes someone had a girl, formerly #1 grandchild) that she had to "learn her place now" when the #1 child had a baby in May. She's a freaking nutbag.

The only thing we are split on is Hockey. I am born and raised Pittsburgh Penguins while he was born and raised Detroit Red Wings. The last two years have been very interesting in our house.
Other than that, he will root for my teams and I will root for his.

We are a total house divided except in NASCAR. He hasn't picked a favorite driver, but he roots for mine and we both equally dislike some of the same drivers. Football season is not a fun place in our house since it's his favorite sport. Well, Florida-Georgia was fun for me, while the NFL side most likely will not be fun for me (I'm for the Bucs, he's for the Falcons). It doesn't help that three of the four pro teams are also Division rivals.
Postseason-wise, where applicable, we root for our own teams first, but also root for the other person's team once our own team is out of it. I totally rooted for the Falcons in last year's NFL playoffs since the Bucs didn't make it in. In this year's NBA playoffs, he was rooting for the Magic once the Hawks were eliminated. We're also big SEC fans during bowl season, too.
I don't like losses being rubbed in my face, so I treat him nicely as long as I'm treated nicely. Not that I'm not smiling on the inside when my team beats up on his team, though.
We agree on baseball and disagree on football. I'm a Broncos fan and he's a Jets fan. I tell people that I'm a Jets fan by marriage. lol
He's a huge hockey fan and I just.don't.care about it. I'll watch an Islanders game with him but never really pay attention. I have a hard time seeing the puck on the ice.
Neither of us are really into college sports or basketball.
I've molded my DH into a New England sports fan quite successfully. LOL. I'm Boston across the board - Red Sox, Celtics, Pat, Bruins. DH was born in Boston, but grew up in CA. Also, his parents are really from MN. So, as you can imagine, he is all over the place when it comes to team loyalty. I won't even get into the college teams. ::sigh::
For the most part, he is just a sports fan in general. He'll watch anything and everything if you let him. If a game is on, I always joke and say, "hey look, it's one of your six favorite teams!". Sad, but true. You don't even want to see his hat collection. It's like walking into a LIDS store. Just pick a team and he'll have it.
The one main disagreement we have is the NBA. He's a big Lakers fan. BLAH.
OMG, that is hilariously crazy - one of my friends swears her grandma is like this, but she isn't as blatant about it, I guess, and she's like 100 years old which makes it somewhat less crazy. But they always joke who the #1 grandchild is based on picture placement and sometimes the grandkids' pictures go in the drawer which means she is mad at them.
I think nutbag sounds like an apt description.
Yes. I'm a Raider fan, DH is a Bronco fan (big rivals). I'm a Wild fan, he's an Avs fan (also big rivals).
Other than that, I like the Rockies as does he, and he tolerates the A's who are my favorite team. We both loathe the Red Sox & Patriots so that works out well too.
