Quatama Max station area?

BTW-you girls have been so awesome at answering all of my many questions!

Tomorrow, I am looking at a cute condo (newly constructed) that's at the Quatama Max station area. I remember a co-worker told me not to live near that station, as someone got stabbed there. But the area looks nice, so...? thoughts?

Re: Quatama Max station area?

  • I don't think that area is bad at all.  And it's right by an awesome coffee shop I love!

I don't think that one stabbing should really dissuade you from moving somewhere.  I hope that doesn't sound too callus...

Crime is so sporadic in this area, you could live in Bethany or the Pearl and still be a victim of crime.  But overall it's VERY low, we were just rated #3 safest city.

  • I live 1.2 miles from that max station and park & ride there often and have NEVER felt unsafe.. ever. a LOT of Intel people live by there as well.  And like JeniLovesNeil said, it's RIGHT by Iron Mutt Coffee, which is a dog friendly (They have a boxer as their logo, so of course I love it!) coffee shop that I take my puppy to a lot :)

  • Quatama should be fine. It's 82nd, Rockwood, and East County @ 181st that you might want to reconsider.

    Are those all east Portland?

  • Yes, when heading east on the train they are between downtown and the end of the farthest stop east. I have to ride through the aforementioned spots daily. I hate it when it's dark out because it makes me nervous.
  • Yikes! Good to know that, though! (and stay safe!)
