Has anyone lived on Max line?
I LOVE the condo I saw today, love the landlord, but it's right against the line...the people who live there say it's not bad and they got used to it quickly. I was there when it went by, and it wans't that bad (there is a "crossing' bell signal though)...any experience? It's a nicely built place, so well insulated.
Thoughts? (also, crime being so close to a station (safe neighborhood)

Re: Has anyone lived on Max line?
Not the MAX, but when we were in Boston we were probably less than 1000 feet from one of the T's commuter rails. I think AmTrak used the rails, too. We definitely noticed it for the first week or so that we were there, but we got used to it really quickly. We'd also notice it again when we opened the windows or something.
They didn't have any bell signals there, the tracks really weren't used after about 10 PM. And FWIW, there were parts of the T that would go 55mph or more, and that was underground. So it's not like the Commuter Rail trains were putzing along. : ) Once in a great while we'd be on the phone when an especially loud, fast train went through and we'd have to stop talking for a few seconds, but that was rare.

I'd imagine once you get your stuff in there and started "living" you'd not notice it at all, especially over the tv/radio/your own voices..
I actually am. So bad that I have to have white noise (a fan) that drowns out noise. But..after two years of living in totally eerily quiet neighborhoods, I am staying riiiighhht next to a freeway currently, and it's been fine. I just got used to it.
