I had never really paid close attention to the Dolphins' offense until their game against the Pats today. The announcers were making such a big deal about the "wildcat" offense because they caught the Pats so off guard with it last season. Watching it today, I thought it was so strange how they kept switching back and forth between their starting quarterback and their backup quarterback. Is this something they do all the time? I mean, they didn't play terribly today, but their record is now 3-5, so it doesn't seem like this unconventional offense is working too well for them.

Re: Dolphins' offense
The wildcat offense does work really well for them most of the time, esp last year. But they don't run it that often. It's not something they can do all the time b/c it's better to catch the other team off guard, and it doesn't work against better defenses. They haven't used Pat White too much this year, but I think we'll see him more and more. Last year, they used Ronnie Brown, but they drafted White b/c he's a QB who can run, so he can do the wildcat whereas Henne can't. Hence the switching back and forth.
A loss is a loss, but we should be 5-3. Our games against the Colts and the Chargers were ours and we effin' choked at the last minute. The Fins really need to work on their 2 minute drill. We have moments where we look so good and then we fall apart. It's so frustrating.
That makes sense. I had just never seen the starter taken out and put back in so many times in a game. I think they put White in at least 4 or 5 times for one play and then took him back out. It all seemed very odd to me.
I could not hear what the announcers since the volume was not up for the Pats game at the bar; however I do try and watch the Dolphins whenever I can since they are divisional rivals. Yes, they do alternate between the wildcat, usually a RB takes the snap. Today Ronnie Brown and White (QB) threw the ball.
When they played the Colts this year, the Dolphins ran all over them, using the wildcat formation every once in awhile. I believe it does work for them, and they have had some close games. I think defenses are just preparing for it more since everyone made such a big deal about it last season.
ETA: The 2 touchdowns that the Dolphins scored were done using the wildcat offense, so it does work. I have also started to see other teams trying to utilize this strategy.
I think we'll see White a lot more in the future as he becomes more comfortable. He's a dual-threat qb. But I think Henne and Brown have been working well. The more options, the better.
Slightly off topic, but I really wanted to see the Dolphins win. They should have beat the Colts, too.
I think that they will use white more when he becomes more comfterable, I mean the last two years he played for WVU he was so good at running the ball. Next year I think he is going to turn heads.
I thing I have notice with the Dolphins is that they seem to let it go at the last min I mean look at close they get to winning. I SO WANTED THEM TO WIN YESTERDAY.
Off the topic a little What happen to Chad Pennington? I totally missed what happend
I really like Chad Henne, I think he shows a lot of potential, and yes he really has stepped up since Pennington went out.
