Anyone been to Hubers before?

I know that is a silly question, but I have lived here in Louisville for 4 years and have yet to make the trip up. I was telling DH that I wanted to go so we were thinking of going this weekend. Any recommendations on food and wine to try while I'm up there? Thanks gals!

Re: Anyone been to Hubers before?

  • i've been.  we really like it in the fall when it's cooler and the pumpkins are out and all that.  anyway, they have platters of cheese and crackers that we get and then any bottle of wine, really.  i think all of huber's wine is really sweet so i'm not a big fan, but still partake :-)  they also have a sampler tray of wines, which would be a good chance for you try a little bit of what they have.  have fun!
  • Going to Huber's restaurant would not be my first choice, but I do recommend going to the Winery. We went on a winery tour and tasting one weekend and it was a lot of fun. Like the last person said, their wine can be a little sweet, but I actually tasted some that were a little drier and not so sweet that I did not know they had until we went to the tasting. They also have some really nice fruit cordials that make good gifts! I suggest getting another couple or two to go with you too to make it even more fun :-)

  • i just moved to lou. a few months ago and haven't heard of this place.  where is it?
  • Hubers restaurant is fairly good. It's pretty much down home country cooking, and a lot of older folks eat there. I happen to LOVE their fried biscuits and apple butter, so I go. Really good fried chicken too. We love going once or twice in the summer for strawberries and then again in the fall for apples and pumpkins.

They also have a really cute petting zoo and kids area (in case your friends have kids, etc.) I go with my friends (in our 20's and no kids) and we love it. It has a huge pillow bounce in the ground and pets and mazes and tub slides. It's fun for all ages and it only costs like, $6. Maybe it's something to do AFTER the wine tasting, lol.

I think it's really pretty and peaceful, they have award winning lillies, a pond and crazy ducks by the restaurant along with swings.
