Louisville engagement party venue?

Hey girls - I'm oot and would like to plan an engagement party for my sister and her fiance. Obviously would hope to do so quickly, while its still "new"!

Can anyone recommend a good location? I'd like somewhere where I can bring in catering or use their food and servers - hors deurves, nothing fancy. I'm picturing somewhere fun and slightly trendy, but nothing that's going to completely break the bank. Somewhere with an outside option would be nice, but not necessary (given that its summer in the south!)

If it were here where I live I have this perfect restaurant in mind that lets you reserve their upstairs bar! But I'm at a loss for L'ville ideas. Can anyone help?  TIA!

Re: Louisville engagement party venue?

  • Riverbend Winery is downtown just off of Main Street kind of near the Slugger Museum and I know they have a private room there. I haven't been in the private room, but I have been in the main part of the place and it is really nice. I don't know if you can bring in your own food, but they do food there. http://www.riverbendwine.com/

Felice Vineyards is also downtown off of Market Street and has a great indoor space as well as outdoor patio with a Bocce Ball Court. I had my rehearsal dinner there and it was an excellent choice. They are associated with an Italian restaurant next door, but we were able to bring in food through a different caterer. http://www.felicevineyards.com/

Something else fun to do might be organizing it on the same night as a Bats baseball game and have the party at Slugger Field. I know you can reserve tables at the overlook deck or the patio deck. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/ballpark/page.jsp?ymd=20051121&content_id=34685&vkey=ballpark_t416&fext=.jsp&sid=t416

Artemesia (a restaurant) has a private room and a lovely outdoor courtyard and is also on Market Street downtown. http://www.artemisiarestaurant.com/

Molly Malones on Bardstown Rd. has an outdoor covered upstairs bar area that would be a great casual location for a party that would be nice. http://www.mollymalonesirishpub.com/highlands/book_party.html

O'Sheas on Bardstown Rd. has great outdoor patio space as well as a small carriage house that they let people rent out for parties with its own restroom and bar space. http://www.osheaslouisville.com/

I don't know how expensive any of those places are, but I think they offer you a wide variety of options. Also, you will have to copy and paste the links. I don't know how to make them "clickable" sorry! Let me know if you have any questions :-)

  • Wow, thanks so much for all the great ideas!  Will definitely look in to all those places.
  • great ideas from chelsanne!!!  esp Riverbend and Felice.  to me Molly Malones and O'Sheas are more "bar" than restaurant, but might fit your budget if you have a strict one.  good luck!
