Who takes your family's photos at holiday time?

For the past 3 years we've used Kiddie Kandids and ended up spending about $75-$100 to get our prints and a cd of images to reprint.  I think they do a good job, but I'm finding year after year the backdrops are the same and its going to get pretty stale after a while.  I'd like some new leads.  I'm looking for:

  • Someone who's going to have patience (this year we have a 6 month old and a 3 year old and we want to do a family shot as well as the boys together and in individual sittings).
  • Don't want an over crowded place because I don't want to feel rushed.
  • Want the ability to get the images on disk for reprints.
  • Want to keep it within the $100 range if possible.

I'll even meet with private photographers of course, but for what we want to pay, I'm guessing we'll need to go to Sears or somewhere similar.

  • I don't have kids, but I think I've heard of people going to JCPenney's for these as well.  Just another name to add to your list.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • My mom would take one of my brother and me either from the first day of school or after we put up the Christmas tree (or school graduation, etc). Last year she used one from the wedding. She gets hers printed through Walgreens.

I've never sent photo cards. DH wants one taken of us in front of the new house. If we do one this year, that's probably the one we'll use. Some of the photo templates on Walgreens' site have two pictures, so maybe we will try to get the Santa hats back on the cats again this year and take a picture of them as well. Should be interesting, and fun.

  • I don't have kids but I took my nephews to Portrait Simple a couple of years ago and had their photos done as a gift to their parents. They came out AWESOME, the 2 of them were not cooperating the little one was in a mood, it was so frustrating. Both DH and I were preparing for the worst and they were actually awesome.
