I need husband dust!

(sorry in advance, I'm often long winded)

For those of you who don't know, Mike is in the Navy and recently started a new training program to be Marine Corps Special Forces. It's a complicated situation, but basically he has to stay on base (50 miles north of where we live) Monday-Friday, and then can come home on the weekends. This past weekend, 35 of the 43 people in his class got in trouble for something completely assanine and weren't allowed to leave their area for the weekend. They couldn't even roam around base, they had to stay in this tiny area where they don't even have a microwave or a television. Needless to say, after a brutal week with less than 8 hours sleep (cumulatively), he was ready to come home and was p!ssed that he wouldn't be able too. He also learned that this is going to be a normal occurrence -- the instructors dangling their freedom over their heads and taking it away for the slightest slip up. If you're familiar at all with the military, you know that they can find any reason to get you in trouble if they want to.

Anyway, he found out that they're scheduled to have Tuesday and Wednesday of this week off because of the Marine Corps birthday and in celebration of Veterans' Day. Assuming they don't get "grounded" again, I might actually be able to see my husband tonight!

::husband dust:: is highly appreciated.

TIA!

  • If somebody's husband gets laid off or something today, we will know that Mamie's dust has failed yet again.
  • Hope you get to see him tonight. I cannot imagine how frustrating that would be not to see him when you were expecting him home.  That would suck to be stuck there.
  • Actually, Mamie's dust works wonders! It's her vibez that you have to beware of.

    Lucky - this whole USMC thing is new to us. Mike is Navy, so if this whole thing works out, we'll have to get used to being the Navy folk in the USMC community.

  • (1) **::husband dust::**

    (2) Is that bar in your picture the one from Crate & Barrel? Because I totally have the same one in my apartment :)

  • Actually, my house dust is crap. But the rest has been good so far including job dust and boot dust among other things.

  • Hope he gets to come home... that would be so frustrating for me.  Good luck to him with the program.
  • Sending dust directly to CA...since Mames' dust will probably get redirected somewhere.
  • From one Navy wife to another, ~~husband dust~~.

    Hope he gets to come home soon.

  • Hoping he makes it home for a few days! We have a similar situation, so I totally see where you are coming from. I am in NJ and he is in CT, so we only see each other on the weekends. He is in school finishing his PhD and I looked for jobs but was unable to find one in this horrible economy, so we are long distance during the week! Enjoy your time with him!
  • It worked, he got to come home!! Though, tonight he has to leave at 8:30 to make the 1+ hr drive back to work in order to stand watch for 2 hours, then make the 1+ hr drive back home. Tomorrow, he has to leave by 6:30 so that he can make it back to base for their 8:00 pm curfew. I'll take it anyway I can get it though. I'm just glad he was able to come home!
