AW: Awesome Review :)

I have been SO stressed out waiting for this, so now I've got to AW a bit

Today was my first classroom observation in the writing class I teach. The director of the program came and watched an entire class period (an hour and a half). Now, I've been teaching as a TA and a lecturer at a local community college for almost 5 years, but this is (1) my first class as a lecturer at a 4-year university, and (2) my first semester teaching writing.

Anyway, she came and sat in the back. She kept a completely straight face the entire time and just wrote tons of notes. I gave her all the same handouts my students got and introduced her briefly, but after that I just tried to pretend she wasn't there and did my thing. She waited for the classroom to clear out afterwards. I was standing there, pretty sure I was visibly shaking...and she said it was outstanding! She said she was very impressed and actually learned a lot from watching my one lesson.

*whew* I'm almost so overwhelmed with relief that I can't even enjoy my excitement...almost I can still AW a little.

Yay, that's awesome!!! Teaching observations can be so nerve-wracking but it sounds like you did a great job!! Congrats!

Of course, the positive energy may wear off as I kinda half-as$ed a paper due in my grad class tonight and I worry I'll be fearing the wrath of it. Oh well. I'm still stoked
