I'll try and keep this short and stick to the important details.. I am due to do my final concentration this being my last year of the program. I decided long ago I wanted to do it this coming fall because I am planning to take some accredidation exams in the spring plus two classes and the mini... etc.. I want to do my project around bacterial resistance... So I come up with a few ideas and start talking to some folks but everything has fallen through it seems or was too big of a project to undertake within the framework of the project. So last week I emailed 4 professors 1 of which is my advisor and another that I worked with to go to Honduras and oversees such things... I heard from one professor with some leads but not really what I want to do and I want something that will help me with future jobs, papers, presentations, ect... anyway, I also emailed a Doc at Riley that specializes in the area I am intersted in and he said he would like to talk with me about developing ideas and projects and asks me to send him my initial ideas. I do and not a word since then.. I know he is busy but I am FREAKING OUT! I have to complet the idea, finish the paperwork, and get it approved before mid August to register! On one hand I'm upset with my program that no one has gotten back with me on the other I am sad and unsure because I haven't heard from the doc.. I am at a loss as to how to approach this and I think its because I'm in the middle of it so any thougths are MUCHO appreciated!!!! TIA
Re: I need some advice...
First of all, BREATHE! Take a break and then send some emails and make some phone calls. Touch base with not only the person you are trying to get ahold of, but also track down their assistant or their boss. Let them know your time frame and also be willing to work around theirs.
I KNOW how you feel - I am suppose to graduate this semester and I STILL don't have my plan of study signed off on, let alone my research proposal started and talked about. It freakin' sucks and stresses you out.
I've just learned to deal with it and while I intend to graduate this fall, it just might not happen because the professionals at the school don't give a damn.
Email me if you need to vent more.
If you wanted another route to possibly pursue...
Michael Kays is the Infectious Disease Clinical Pharmacy Head at Wishard. ?He was one of my professors in school and was awesome! ?Really friendly and super smart. ?He's done lots of resistance projects with pharmacy students on their final year, so maybe he'd help you out too.
?His email is mkays@iupui.edu.?
