Who's hosting Thanksgiving?
This is our first Thanksgiving in our new house & we have decided to host Thanksgiving. My MOL absolutely refuses to make Thanksgiving dinner & every year insists on going out so I decided to take on the task. My questions:
How many of you are hosting Thanksgiving & how many ppl are you having?
Are you using real dishes or paper plates?
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything?
For me, it's about 12-15 ppl. I only use real dishes at holidays & everyone's bringing something. Thanks! Enjoy your day!

Re: Who's hosting Thanksgiving?
How many of you are hosting Thanksgiving & how many ppl are you having? I'm hosting for 4 possibly 6 people. Not many at all, but I still make a ton of food. MIL's house is really small, especially her kitchen and dining room so it works out for everyone to have it at our house. Plus I'm a better cook than she is
Are you using real dishes or paper plates? Always real dishes. I even use cloth napkins.
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything? I cook everything.
How many of you are hosting Thanksgiving & how many ppl are you having? I'm hosting for the second year in a row, and anywhere between 3 and 9 people are coming (still waiting to hear back from my aunt)
Are you using real dishes or paper plates? Real dishes.
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything? I'm cooking everything -- I LOVE to cook!
Yes, I'm hosting. We'll have anywhere from 5 to 9 people.
Real dishes, and cloth napkins.
Cooking everything.
How many of you are hosting Thanksgiving & how many ppl are you having?
I expect there to be about 10 of us.
Are you using real dishes or paper plates?
Real. Actually, as Thanksgiving is the big event for DH and I, we bought a set of more Thanksgiving/fall looking dishes a couple years ago. The way people have special Christmas dishes, we have special Thanksgiving dishes and linens! Makes it much more festive.
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything?
We do probably about 80% of everything. My parents do dessert (my dad makes a mean pumpkin pie) and apps. IL's bring roasted almonds. The rest - us. This year, though, because DH will be officially working and we dont' know if he'll even be there or not, my aunt is making the turkey.

THis is also our 1st Thanksgiving in our new house. My mom is coming over and showing me a few tricks of the trade since she used to be the one to host.
how many ppl are you having? 8-10
Are you using real dishes or paper plates? China
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything? I'm cooking the main meal & others are bringing some dishes and desserts
We aren't quite sure who's hosting. Our families live about 4 hours apart. We've been at my parents or grandmother's house on Thanksgiving day in case we need to work on Friday, and then go visit his family for the weekend. His mom likes doing her own dinner, so we get two!
This year we may be able to have everyone at our new house, so I will need to learn to cook a turkey... If we do it at our place on Thursday, there will be 8-9 of us, if DH's family comes, maybe as many as 12-13.
We'd use our china. I'm working on getting napkins and a tablecloth that I like.
We'd cook most of it and ask for people to bring things. My MIL makes a crazy pecan pie.

We are - it's our first Thanksgiving as a married couple and our first in our new place, so I'm excited to play hostess for a holiday meal! ?We're having DH's family over, but his family is really small, so it'll only be 6 of us, maybe 8 if his cousin and her BF can make it.
Definitely real dishes. ?Getting to pull out our nice china is the best part about holiday dinners, and come to think of it I don't think I've used paper plates in my home ever.
I'm doing all the cooking. ?MIL's idea of cooking is sticking a frozen pizza in the microwave, so I gracefully turned down her offers to "help." ?I think DH's aunt is bringing a pie.
Sorry I know I'm new to the bored. I did the full family thing last year, 20+ ppl and me and my mom cooked everything. It was fun but way too much, you have the right idea with everyone bring something. I was so tired I didn't enjoy it and didn't get to socialize with anyone.
This year we are going small with only about 5-7 ppl and I will do everything but scale way back on the amount of dishes I make. We always use real plates just because I have a strange hatred for paper plates
Are you using real dishes or paper plates? Real dishes
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything? We cook about 75% of everything.
We're going to a friend's house - she's expecting 25-30 people. My parents aren't big on Thanksgiving and we're seeing them the weekend before (they live 3 hours away) and DH's mom is 8 hours away. We are going to see MIL at Christmas.
Friend is making the main meal, and everyone is bringing a side/dessert. I'll be making corn casserole and a peppermint cheesecake.
How many of you are hosting Thanksgiving & how many ppl are you having? I'm hosting....expecting about 12 people
Are you using real dishes or paper plates? Real dishes and cloth napkins!
Is it potluck or are you cooking everything? I think we'll be making about 60-75% of the meal.
