I will never understand this...

Why/how do people pay SO much for purses? I got an email for a Kate Spade sample sale (supposedly at 75% off) and I still am like OMG...that's so expensive.

This comes from someone who buys her purses at JCPenney's, Kohl's or TJMaxx.

Re: I will never understand this...

  • I am a lover of Coach. I have 3 different ones. but have had them for a  very long time.

Kohl's does have fabulous purses too! the one i am using now is from Kohl's. and agree with TJMaxx too! they get some cute ones in.

I am all for a cheap handbag or purse but i can't buy from Walmart, they have the crappiest selection these days. Target is a hit or miss too. some of their leather ones are nice, but i hate all those cloth ones, they come in many tacky colors.

  • Yeah, I totally feel ya on Target...they have gotten worse. I guess my taste changes SO often that I can't see myself dropping more than $40 on a purse. LOL!
  • Can you forward the email? I want to see!

I'm not a big bag person, but I have a couple of expensive ones that other people bought. It's been 4-5 years and they still look brand new. I guess since I don't really get into bags, I don't mind carrying the same two for years and years. I have been wanting a new one lately.

  • I'm cheap, I admit it.  I can't rationalize spending a lot of money on something like a purse when it would be much better spent either going in Elise's savings account or towards renovations to the house.  I don't mind spending money on quality stuff, but a purse isn't high on my list!

  • I am the same way. I would rather have more money in the purse than on the outside of the purse. I buy pretty cheap one from TJMaxx and they last me forever. I have just never really cared all that much about purses.

  • I'll admit it if I had the money I'd buy a nice bag like that. I love designer bags. The designer bag has to be simple though, I hate logo bags, like the Coach ones with the c's all over them.

I think if something is classic it won't go out of style and it's worth spending the money on. My first gift to myself with my real teacher paycheck will probably be a nice bag.

That being said until then I will be carrying my Target purse :)
