I'm a MAC convert and I love it. I just converted my aunt too. Another co-worker came by asking me about it and why is a MAC better than a PC. These are the reasons I give:
1) Little to no virus problems
2) Mac's are a more stable system
3) Easy to use
4) Great applications especially the photo program
Am I missing any?
Re: Why MAC > PC?
Given my experience with them, I would say the opposite. But I think I just get the blunt end of the stick with them.
I think you guys have listed all of the positives that I could think of. Being that I'm a Mac and a PC user, I have positives and negatives for both. A lot of it depends on your technology knowledge, your end purpose of the computer and your budget.
Really!? Every time I have ever called or had to go into the store they have been more than helpful.
Oh, yeah. To make a very long story short, I brought my Powerbook to the store, told them what was wrong (I've done tech support for years), reminded them it was under warranty. Then they lost it for a few days. Whenever I called, they'd send me to the phone call general service line (outside of the store) and then that person would have to call the store and figure out what was going on with it. It was bad.
Took them two-ish weeks (I forget how long) to tell me it was ready (only after I was calling them every day). To top it all off, they tried giving my DHthe wrong computer. Without a power cord. They insisted it was mine until he started getting mad and pointing out how much about it meant that it wasn't mine (she has a ding here, a sticker there, etc.). Thank goodness my DH has a brain and pays attention to details.
sometime you need to find a Mac guy that isn't an apple Genius. I found one and married him. Just because the work at the apple store doesn't mean they are going to do what's best. That said, our local apple store should also have other local deals they work with and most of those places have repairs shops as well.
I do tech support as well, those mac commercials make me so damn mad. i used to love macs when i was in college doing photography work.
now that i work in software support, i can't stand dealing with them. i am not a mac person, i'm sure if i took the time to learn more i would not mind them as much, but their commercials really are way off base.
FYI: i heard the new snow leopard that just came supposedly has a huge bug in it that could possibly wipe out your entire Hard drive. supposed to have someone to do with logging in as a guest - so don't do it til you learn more. be careful and back up if you can, or get the update if there is one out there.
