I posted this on the travel board too, but I'd love a local perspective. TIA!
This Thanksgiving we are going to DH's family's house in upstate NY. (Near West Point.) We've taken the train into the city several times, but never stayed over night. With everthing going on in his family, we thought this year we could use a mid-trip break. :-) Questions, questions, questions!
- Where should we stay? (one night, Friday after Thanksgiving - we're open as far as price, but would like to keep it under $300 if possible.)
- Where should we shop? I'd love to get the ladies in my family something cool from a boutique type shop in the city. (without spending a fortune.) Any ideas?
- What should we do? We'd like to get dinner out somewhere, and potentially see some live music. (maybe blues or Jazz). We're not wild and crazy people (dance clubs would be out), but can be night owls if the mood is right. We can also dance (from the little we learned before our wedding) so that would be kind of fun.
- Recommend your favorite breakfast spot for Saturday morning before we catch the train home.
Thanks!!!!
