If you are baking gifts?

To clarify, I am asking for ideas for baked goods.  I have a couple of ideas but am looking for additional. Things I am considering include caramel popcorn, holiday cookies, scones and maybe a rocky road fudge. Thanks.

Re: If you are baking gifts?

  • I"m confused--are you looking for recipes, or ideas in addition to baked goods.

And I certainly hope you don't introduce your child as your BC malfunction.

  • Ideas for baked goods.

See edit. Quite frankly we just found out and still in a bit of shock. Everything is rather surreal.

  • I'm making boxes with a few different types of fudge in them.  It's going to take a while, but people loved them last year.

  • Breads always go over well b/c people can freeze them if needed.

Also a lot of guys in our family love beer bread, so I'll make a dry mix of that for them and they just have to add beer and some melted butter and bake.

  • I give a loaf of pumpkin bread, and no bake cookies every year. I usually give rice krispie treats and chocolate chip cookies.

This year I'm giving chocolate dipped pretzel rods, pumpkin bread, no bake cookies, and something I haven't figured out yet.

  • Boston brown bread, gingerbread, pumpkin bread. I'm all about breads for the holidays

  • We usually do cookies or breads.  Just depends on who we're giving it to.  I like the rice krispies idea.  Especially if they come back out with their holiday colors.

  • I do baked goodies for my co-workers every year.  Just watch out - sometimes ingredients can cost more than an actual present.

This year I'm doing almond brittle, triple chocolate bark and maybe some truffles.

  • Breads are good (especially when packaged with soup or dip mixes)

Cake pops are cute and you can never go wrong with cookies.

  • MIL makes a dessert tray for coworkers and for each family, she does all different cookies, microwave peanut brittle, and peanut butter bonbons.

This is what I always do. I make various mini loaves as Christmas gets closer & just freeze them. Then I take them out a few days before & make up baskets of the baked items with coffee mugs, coffee & other various items. I usually get them at the dollar store so that I stay in a budget. Everyone usually loves them & it's not that expensive.

  • Forgot to mention this earlier, but if you know how or are willing to learn, homemade Jams and Jeliies are a huge hit for my family.

  • I usually do an assorted box for each gift including: peppermint bark, chocolate gingerbread cookies, oatmeal cranberry cookies, popcorn balls, and fudge.

This year I'm adding sugar cookies or shortbread.

People ALWAYS go nuts for the peppermint bark and it's the easiest thing to make EVER, plus it looks really festive.  My boss talks about it all year!

  • Hi I am new here, but I have a great reciepe for home made Baileys. Its not baked but it goes really well with cookies and cakes. It needs to be refriderated and its good for about two weeks.

    Ditto this.

What I do....  melt dark chocolate (I usually buy the little melting 'discs' but you can buy chips or whatever works best for you).  Once melted, pour onto a jelly roll pan lined with wax paper.  Put in refrigerator to cool.  Once cooled/hardened, melt white chocolate in a separate bowl.  Once melted, stir in peppermint pieces (I buy these from the candy shop in red & green, but you could also just crush up your own peppermint candies).  Pour mixture over top of the hardened dark chocolate layer, then back in the fridge.  Once that's hardened, break into pieces and try not to eat it all before you give it away. :):)

  • Oh, and I usually make some nuts with a recipe similar to this:  http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pecan-Snack/Detail.aspx

I use 2 large ziplocs to make them though - One for the wet mixture and then one for the dry.  It's MUCH easier that way.  Just shake them up to coat rather than trying to stir. :)

    They get rave reviews. :)
