We got our first call

And i turned it down Crying

Especially heartbreaking b/c it was twins (for some reason i've always pictured myself as a mom to twins).  But, distance to daycare was too far for a short term placement and they were older than A's age preference.

I have to hold out and have faith that the right child will find his/her way into my life....

Re: We got our first call

  • oh....I am so sorry. I mean happy that you got a call but sorry for you that you had to turn down twins based on other factors.  You WILL get your perfect placement.  Hang in there.
  • I'm sorry, hun.  You've mentioned twins so often that it seems ironic that would be your first call.  You are absolutely right that your first placement will find you when he/she is supposed to.

Even though you had to turn it down it was still probably exciting to get the call and *really* know you're active and waiting - right?

  • Oh that's tough.

    What is A's age preference?

isnt it ironic that it was twins??!?!  In fact, the first words out of her mouth were "i have a potential placement for you. Its twins"  and it took everything out of me not to say yes right then!

::sigh:: i'm VERY happy we got a call.  and it gave me the opportunity to speak with the matcher, tell her what our preference/abilities were, and i think my near-tears voice made her feel bad for me and she'll keep me in mind for the next call, lol.  When i said that my wife's preference was for an infant she said "oh really? I get babies all the time!" so that was good.  She also indicated that placements had been unusually slow this past week (slower than she's seen in 4 years!), but were picking up so she was certain my phone would be ringing shortly.

She's got a pretty firm under 3 rule. though her true preference is for under 2.

  • First of all - I'm so excited that you got a call!! And so sorry it didn't work out...

But it's great that you got to speak to someone and let her know what kind of placement will be best for you and A. And, "We get babies all the time"?? Sounds like your phone will be ringing again!

  • I am so sorry.

I know how hard it is to turn down a placement. Our first call was for a 5  year old who had been sexually abused. She had siblings in different homes and visits with them and her mom, plus school, medical issues due to abuse and intensive therapy. There was no way we could have handled that our first time out, but I felt bad about it for weeks.

It sounds so cliche and trite, but the right call does come. I am proof of that. Your perfect call is coming.Right Hug

  • Aw, I'm so sorry you ended up having to turn down your first call... but it was the right thing to do for both you guys and for the twins. Right Hug  I think it shows even more how great and caring a home you will be when the right call does come.

    Hey, calls though!! Yes
