3. Favorite Author?

Re: Poll: Books

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)?

Eat, Pray, Love - Elizabeth Gilbert

    2. Would You Recommend The Book?

It's a pretty slow read & I'm having a hard time not wanting to just give up & go to another book.

    3. Favorite Author?

Nicholas Sparks.  I loved him before the whole "Notebook" Hype and I own everyone one of his books!

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)?

Just finished- The Pillars of the Earth

now reading - Love in the time of Cholera

    2. Would You Recommend The Book?

I just started Love in the time of Cholera, but so far it seems like a good read. The Pillars of Earth is a MASSIVE book, but the story is so good I flew through it.

    3. Favorite Author?

Jane Austen. Love her. My favorite of her's are Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. So good. so good.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? Just finished Something Borrowed

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? Yes, light reading and a fun story.

    3. Favorite Author? Sophie Kinsella...the Shopoholic Series.  I like fun, easy, relaxing reads.  Reading is my getaway, so I don't like reading serious stuff.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? When You Are Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? Definitely- all of his books are hilarious.

    3. Favorite Author? I don't know that I have a fave- I like a lot of different writers.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakauer.

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? It's good so far, but not as great as some of the other works I've read by him.*

    3. Favorite Author? Sooooo many. James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell for that type of book; Jen Lancaster, Emily Giffin, Lauren Weisberger, Jennifer Weiner for "chick lit" type stuff.

*The backstory (in case anyone Google's it and wonders why I'm reading a collection of writings on mountain climbing...) I read his account of climbing Everest in my "Journalism as Literature" class in grad school and LOVED it. I'm weeding through the books I have that I haven't read in anticipation for the "summer reading" I have stashed away for our vacation next week.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner.

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? Yes, Jennifer's books are always fun with a serious subject at hand. This one is not as good as her others (IMO), but still a really good, easy read.

    3. Favorite Author? I love Sophie Kinsella as well as Emily Giffin. I am with RedHead - I usually like light, fun reads as opposed to serious. I do occasionally enjoy something a little different though.

  • My book club just read "I love you Beth Cooper" can't remember the author. So not my style that I didn't even finish it - would not recommend.

Chick lit wise I like Sarah Mylnowski, otherwise no real fave. I do tend to like non-fiction stuff.

  • 1. What book are you reading now (if any)? The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner

     2. Would You Recommend The Book? If you like mystery thrillers, it's definitely a good book. This one had me intrigued from the beginning.

    3. Favorite Author? Jane Austen is probably my fave. But I love Lisa Gardner's books for fun reading ... Most are murder mysteries and the leads are stronge female types. No damsels in distress and I like that.

I loved Something Borrowed! The next on Something Blue was a great book too. The author has another two more books that I haven't read yet...I want to look into them.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? Why bad things happen to good people. I don't remember the name of the author.

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? Its religous so unless you're into the way God works I don't think you'll enjoy it.

    3. Favorite Author? Anything James Patterson! I love his books. I also like Emily Giffin, Nicholas Sparks.

  • Her third is Baby Proof - just as good as the first two! Her fourth just came out, but I refuse to buy books in hardback, so I have to wait until it comes out in paperback, or go to the library. If anyone reads it, let me know if it's good!!
  • Yea Baby Proof! I want to read it I have read previews and its seems cute! I sooo do not buy hardbacks either!! LOL

I think I did for something blue bc I got a GREAT sale on it and I couldn't wait to read it! LOL

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)?  I'm in between right now.  I think I'm going to do "Lord John Grey" nest

    2. Would You Recommend The Book?  I love this series.  Its from Diana Diana Gabaldon.  I recommend the Outlander series of hers too

    3. Favorite Author? Diana Gabaldon, Philippa Gregory, C.S. Lewis, I like the shopaholic series as well.

  • 1. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? Good in Bed by Jennifer Wiener (SP?)

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? I like it...I can relate to the main character so I think it is good

    3. Favorite Author? Judy Blume, Pat Conroy

  • I'm a little late but I'll chime in - good poll!

1.. What Book Are You Reading Now (If Any)? I was reading The Last Anniversary, can't even remember the author.  It was moving slowly so I set it down.

    2. Would You Recommend The Book? I haven't been too impressed yet but I can't say for sure until I finish it.

    3. Favorite Author? I have so much real reading to do for school that I have only been reading light chick lit books.  I have read a bunch by Meg Cabot this year and I have really liked them.  Nothing too heavy or complicated so they are entertaining and go quickly.

On another note - if anyone wants to borrow anything, I have Something Borrowed and Something Blue (I think my mom still has my Baby Proof) and I also have several Meg Cabot and some Shopaholic series.  I need to start going to the library too!

  • Hi, I'd love to borrow baby proof. :-)
  • I was thinking of generating a list of books I've read and maybe we can swap/exchange/lend out books...anyone interested?
  • There's also a Web site called PaperBackSwap.com that does the same thing. I know a lot of the Nesties on the Nest Book Club use it and really like it. It's free, you just have to pay the cost of mailing the book, which they said was typically around $2-3. I signed up yesterday, I just haven't entered in the books I want to swap. Considering JD recently told me I have two Something Borrowed...I better start paying more attention! :)
  • 1. The Appeal, by John Grisham.

    2. Yes, if you like his books (which to be similar, but i don't mind!)

    3. Fave Author? i'm with all those Emily Giffin fans- her new one is Love the One you're With, which I got from the library. It's pretty good, but Something Borrowed/Something Blue are my faves of hers.

  • Oh that sounds good.

I just joined a local book club that I found on www.meetup.com and I'm really excited about it. My Hubby freaked out b/c I told him I have to buy the books! LOL

Honestly I didn't know that the libraries had the new releases and "good" books. I always associated it with research for school.

I'm definitely going to look into paperbackswap. Thanks for the info.

I'll still post the books I have to give you guys first look :-)
