I had decided to stop doing the Master's program at Millersville University because I felt the program I was in was not very well put together (it was the first year for the program). I felt like if I was going to spend a lot of money on a Master's Degree, I wanted the program to be cohesive and pertinent to my area of occupation.
I looked at several other programs and decided on Penn State's Online program for a Master's in Homeland Security and Public Health Preparedness. I got notification today that I was accepted and start in January!
It's an all online program, which is great for my crazy work schedule.
The only downer? If you're only taking one course at a time, you don't qualify for financial aid so that's a huge bummer because now I need to come up with the money! I have the money for the first semester, but we've been trying to save for a baby since we're ttc.
DH is going to look into his GI Bill since there is a spouse option.
Re: Exciting News
Oh - that's where I work - World Campus!! Congrats to you! I don't work with the HLS program but the two ladies that do are wonderful.
There is a new program - MyCAA that offers assistance to military spouses. You can find a little bit of information about that here and here is the announcement for the program.
If you have any questions, just page me, I'd be glad to try to help you out or guide you in the right direction.
Good Luck!!
Jlion: I work in Emergency Management so I had originally been thinking about just doing the Disaster Management certificate, but then said "what the heck?" and decided to go for the whole degree instead.
Billysgirl: That's awesome! Thank you soooo much for posting that - I'll check it out! I'm hoping I qualify! It's awesome you work for World Campus - now I know who to come to if I have questions!
