Do you have a financial advisor?

I ask because I was talking with some of my coworkers and they ALL have one. Admittedly they are all at least 10-15 years older then me, but am I missing out on something?

Re: Do you have a financial advisor?

  • I do. I have an account with Nationwide retirement, which includes an advisor. He is always available to go over things, make changes. stop add payments to it ect. My brother is a financial advisor and he assist me with it also.

In todays market...no, you are not missing out on anything. I have lost alot of money in the past few quarters but by the time I retire I am sure(or at least really hope) I get it all back plus a whole bunch.

  • I want one, but just because I want someone to tell us we are making the right decisions for our age. To me, it's more important the closer you get to retirement age when you really need to worry about making sure you have enough.
  • I want one also. I have a 401K from my old job (i've been out for a year) and I want to talk to some one about what is the best thing to do with it.
  • I have had an account with Edward Jones (an investment firm) for a while now and my whole family uses this one guy in the company, Brad Weston. He's very nice and very friendly.   I don't know if he is officially a "financial adviser" but I will call and ask him any questions I have regarding the market and what I should do related to investment/savings.  So I guess you could say I have one, but if I didn't have an account there I'm not sure I would miss it.  Since I do have an account with him though I don't feel bad asking his advice when I have an issue I'm curious about.
  • I got one with my fidelity account.  I also have a good friend who I ask questions from time to time.

  • I really need to get advice on what to do with my 401K. I heard that getting an IRA with Fidelity is a good idea. Star, do you recommend Fidelity?

  • I really like them.  Sadly I didn't really shop around so I'm not sure if its the best.  They are really nice and I found it easy to set up and such.  Their website is a little confusing but like I said I just go in to their branch in Altamonte when I need help.
  • We have Fidelity. We use that for our Roth IRA's and to do our stock purchases. I love Fidelity.
  • Yep, we use Edward Jones.  I've had an advisor since I graduated from high school.  Switched to a different person once DH and I got married.
  • My Roth IRA is with Fidelity too. I've never had any issues with them, plus you can always call to make changes to your account. The few times I've called, the person I spoke to was very helpful.
