Goodmorning Ladies, I have a situation that I am desperately needing help with. I have been offered another job and I am weighing out the pros and cons.
Job I have now: I work 35 hrs a week. I get paid holidays, paid sick leave, 5 day paid vacation, 5 days personal time. I do not work weeekends. I go to school full time and they work around my schedule. I like the people I work with the only catch is I drive 30 miles there and 30 miles back. I drive 300 miles a week for work. It is about a 35 min drive. I spend 60-70 on gas. I told them I was leaving and they offered me a 1.50 raise. That makes me make 9.50 an hr. I make it home about 5:45 sometimes 6 everyday. Another plus is they let me work on my homework everyday. Im not very busy here and I actually enjoy it most of the time.
New Job-It is at a bank as a part time teller. I get no benefits. I would be working 35 hrs a week there also. I would also be working Saturdays from 8:30-12:30 every single Sat. I would end up getting off at 5:30 everyday. the plus side to this is it is in my hometown which means no long driving and it is 10 min away from my college where with my old job it was 30 min away from my college.
So which job would you pick if you were in my shoes? Keep in mind, I am 20 and a junior in college and don't have much money as it is.
Re: Please Help!
I'd stay where you're at. When your in college the biggest benefit you have is an undersatnding employer and a flexible work schedule. The raise should help you towards gas. Maybe they can make it $2.00...HTH
I would have to say stay where you are. It seems the list of pros of staying outweighs the cons.
I would also have a really hard time not having health insurance (unless you can get some thru your school).
I would also counter-offer your employer and explain that the price of gas is the major issue and that a little more money from them would definitely sway you to stay.
