We recently got our patio completely re-done and we are ready to host our first real "party" at our house to enjoy it. We are thinking of doing a loosely-themed hannukah party for our friends and we are calling it "Latkas and Vodkas". I am thinking we can have latkas with different dipping sauces and a few variety of drinks with vodka in them. I was also thinking of buying lots of chocolate coins (gelt) and having a quick menorah lighting.
Anyone want to help me brainstorm what kinds of other foods/desserts and drinks we should have? I would expect we will probably have between 15-20 of our friends over to celebrate the festival of lights. My cousin has lots of outdoor tables and chairs that we will be able to use to set up.. so I would just need to buy tablecloths for those.
Also, any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Hanukkah party - brainstorming!
Dreidel (sp?) and Star of David shaped sugar cookies? That would be so cute!
I'm not really familiar with Jewish food or traditions, but since you're theme is "Vodkas", maybe you can have different flavored Vodka martinis and give them Hebrew inspired names?
What about those little doughnuts? Let me look up the name.. Google tells me it's this: soofganiot
I went to a friend's Hanukkah party when I was young and loved those things.
I don't know much about the culture, but I love your ideas! So cute!
Have you ever seen when people freeze fruit in vodka?
Here is the regular fruit themed one:
Here is the Christmas one, but you can make it look however you want:

I think this would be a really nice addition to the bar! I also like the Star of David sugar cookies idea.
