...without making me look like an old lady or a slob? I have yet to find anyone that can style my hair so that it looks nice. I got a haircut today and as soon as I got home I did what I usually do-- wash it and style it myself. The haircut is pretty good but I am still confused about why it always looks so awful when I leave the salon. I hear lots of women who just glow about how their stylist does their hair, that they don't want to wash it for days just to retain the style. Um, not in my case.
I have slightly wavy hair that is on the thin side. I know curly-haired ladies always complain about people not knowing how to cut it or style it. I am convinced that my case is even worse. Neither straight nor curly, they just don't know what to do. Add in a couple of cowlicks and it's like a conundrum for most stylists. Really? I can't imagine that I am the only person with hair like this.
Firstly, most stylists opt for the blow-out when dealing with my hair. Okay, take the easy route. Then they inevitably fight with my bangs. I left today with a bit of a lifeless flipped out hair-do with bangs that looked like absolute crap. The woman didn't use any hair product in my hair other than to spray the bangs a bit at the end in frustration. How is it that with zero professional training I am able to do just fine?
Grrr.

I have thick wavy hair and I too can't seem to find that "perfect" hairstylist. *sigh* I feel your pain.
I just got a haircut from a friend I went to high school with on Sunday. It's the 1st time I've used her and she did do what I asked for, but for some reason I'm still not 100% happy. It seems like I go from 1 hair dresser to the next. I feel like a hair dresser whore. lol But, I guess this is how it will be until I do find that "perfect" 1 for me!
