Banking question for Upstate ladies

My husband and I currently have almost all of our money in a money market account with Bank of America, earning about .9 % interest. We also have a small amount in a 3 month CD at 1.05%. Is anyone earning better rates than this? I want to make sure my money is earning as much as possible, but also want to make sure it is easily accessible.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Banking question for Upstate ladies

  • We bank at Provident Community Bank in downtown Simpsonville.  We have a Dream Checking Account that is currently making 4%.  Here's the info on the account: (which can also be seen on their website)

To receive the high Annual Percentage Yield, you must perform the following requirements each cycle:

    • Make 10 Visa debit card transactions
    • Set up one Direct Deposit or ACH Auto Debit
    • Enroll and receive Electronic Statements (valid e-mail address is required)
    • Access online banking

4.01% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) paid on balances between one penny and $50,000 and 1.01% APY paid on the portion of account balances over $50,000 for each cycle the requirements are met. If you do not meet the requirements during a cycle, your account will still function as a free checking account earning 0.10% APY.

Annual Percentage Yields for this account are effective as of 9/23/09 and subject to change after account is opened.

A minimum balance of $100 is required to open this account. Available for personal accounts only.

    No monthly service charge.

Fees could reduce earnings on the account.
