I've sporadically checked in on this board, but I'm now officially a NH resident. Moved here last week (from NYC) & am going to get my driver's license tomorrow. So I should be hanging around more often now.
Besides, I need to make friends--other than my husband & my in-laws, I know NO ONE! Anyone? . . . .
We are living in Concord. It's a big change from NYC, but I am so ready to be out of the city. Wow--we have a garage! Yipppee, I can buy more stuff to store & collect dust!
I am waiting to hear back about a job at Plymouth State University (is the commute going to kill me?). If that doesn't pan out, we are currently TTC, & hopefully, I'll have my hands full very shortly.
Anyway, the biggest thing I'm going to miss about NYC is Central Park & my work-out buddies. So if anyone needs a biking/yoga/walking/running/skiing/cooking/swimming partner, let me know!
Re: Officially--I'm a new NH/Concord resident!
Congrats!!!! I hope you are able to adjust okay, it is a huge change.... but I think it will be a change for the better. You have so much more outdoor activity close by.... between the mountains, the lakes, the ocean, etc.
Too bad you aren't closer to the seacoast though.... I'm a runner/biker/yogi/swimmer. LOL
Best wishes with getting settled!
Welcome to NH - Live free or die!
LOL - ours is my favorite state motto, so I thought it would be a good welcome saying too!
welcome to NH emily!! i know it's been a long time coming for you - i'm glad you're here and settled finally! we found that although we did love NYC and miss aspects about it (8 different options for a $3 california roll at 2am within a 10 minute walk, anyone??) we are so much happier here with our garage and grass and no gangs or pee puddles or hot subways or no parking or pollution you can actually taste (and the list goes on...)
you will find ways to love your new home and you will be very homesick about other aspects (central park will likely be a big one for you... it holds a special place in my heart too!) but i hope you grow to love NH more and more as the months and years go by
good luck with your TTC plans! keep us posted!
welcome to the board!! I don't live in NH anymore, but welcome anyways!! I used to make a similar commute in the opposite direction, from Ashland (near Plymouth) to Belmont and or Canterbury (near Concord). The commute is not SO bad, and they keep the highway pretty clear from snow in winter. What kind of job are you looking into at PSU? Congrats on the house and the garage, and good luck with TTC!!!
Hi there! I'm actually in the Concord area. We are moving soon also and I will be in Pembroke (right next to Concord.)
It's so good to have another person on the board. Welcome!
Welcome to NH!
What kind of job are you looking into at Plymouth? My DH works for the University System, so I can have him keep his eyes & ears open.
