Holiday Baking gtg
Hi Girls,
A couple of us were talking about a baking gtg. So far this is what we know. It will most likely be on December 5th In Virginia's house. Still need to decide what we will be making, but those who decide to come will be given a grocery ingredient list.
If you're interested please let me or Virginia know. Virginia will be creating an envite very soon.

Would a Holiday Cookie Swap be easier? Everyone can bring a plate of their specialty & copies of the recipe so that we all hve new baked goods to make this holiday season. People can email you what they plan to bring that way we don't have like 3 diff people making chocolate chip!
It would be a fun way to just mingle. I'd love to go since I've never been to one of the Nest gettys yet!!

The thing is it's going to be more than just cookies. I know I want to make lemon merengue pie, which doesn't require baking, Virginia wants to make chocolate dipped pretzels, and perhaps some cookies like gingerbread men, holiday cookies, and chocolate chip cookies. It should be fun like our own little bakery factory lol Could be enjoying it with some wine, and some sparkling juice for the pregnant ladies. :-)

LOL that is adding to the lure. LOL. I have to wait to see DJ's schedule. If he works during that time then I will go but if not I can't make it since our time now is so limited ( 4 hrs on the weekend together) that we always try to spend as much time together. At what time will it be?

Ditto Yocy. Anthony's schedule is crazy and I have to plan around him since our time together is also limited. Being married to a chef isn't easy.
Not sure, maybe at 1pm or so. Will last several hours since we will be making a lot of things.

I live in the Delray area. And....we live right next to a Publix, like it's a stone's throw close. So if we need anything at all, we can just walk there. We have plenty of room for y'all. Kitchen isn't huge, but a decent size to work in.

Question, if we are going to be baking, wouldn't we be there for many hours? Would we all bring our own baking supplies? Mixers, baking pans, etc.? What if more than one person would need to use the oven? I'm confused!! lol I imagined a dessert/cookie swap like someone else said.
Also, would we pick what we wanted to make? I have dietary restrictions so I would want to make one of my own recipes
ok, that's a lot of questions, let me break it down.
Question, if we are going to be baking, wouldn't we be there for many hours? Yes, this would be an almost all day event (guessing like 5 hours) It's just like going to a party, only we're baking :-)
Would we all bring our own baking supplies? Mixers, baking pans, etc.? We will probably need extra mixers, but I can bring mine and I'm sure other girls can bring theirs too. As for the supplies(non food) once we know what we're baking I can get all the supplies from school. So don't worry about the cooking/baking supplies. We will be splitting up the grocery list.
As for the grocery list, when baking there are always common ingredients used ie flour, sugar, butter, etc. We'll split these ingredients up evenly and should someone be making something very specialized then they can bring whatever additives they need. ie Virginia is making chocolate covered pretzel's I will probably be pitching in extra so I can take some of these home.
I think overall we want to make these to either enjoy in our house, or for me I want to make them to make little gifts out of them.
What if more than one person would need to use the oven? Not everything will be baked, but for the things that will be we'll have a oven schedule. ie some cookies require refrigeration so while those cookie dough are being refrigerated we'll bake the items that don't require refrigeration. Cookies really only take like 12 minutes max to bake, so I don't see this being a problem unless we start baking cakes which probably isn't the best idea. imho

I would totally expect you and want you to make your own recipe. (i have been eyeing your pumpking whoopie pie things hint, hint lol) It's a great way to share recipes and techniques with other girls. It's a great bonding experience :-)

hey ladies...it's me cynthia...mrs.rod. changed my name...long story. anywho, i would love to attend. i have the LSATs that day so I'll probably go afterwards. it will be my 1st day out w/o the baby!!!! dh will be in charge of the feedings. as long as i can pump while i'm there then there's no problem
