Has anyone ever experienced being bitten by bed bugs?? I recently stayed in an awesome hotel on Key West. Clean, wonderful, staff was attentive! But I am noticing clusters of what seem to be some sort of bites on my elbows and hands. I have been back since Sunday and just started noticing them yesterday or the day before. I can't figure out what they could be, and then it dawned on me...could it be bed bugs??? I looked online for photos of what they could look like, but it's hard to tell since any sort of blood sucking bug bite look very much alike. And of course the more I think about being covered in bugs as I sleep the more I am sure they are still crawling all over me!!! If they are bed bugs could I have brought them home with me and now they are in MY bed??? Cause that creeps me out even more!! And for the record my husband was with me and he doesn't seem to have any bites.
Re: Bed bugs
Sorry to say, but yes you can bring them home with you. I have never had them, but from what I understand you can actually feel them on you. Like you start itching in bed. They don't have to live in the bed, they can be in the outlet or the wall and just come out at night to "eat" while you are sleeping. They are tiny, but I think you can still see them If your husband doesn't have them, then they probably aren't bedbugs.
Ok...reading this makes me feel itchy! Must go showere now...lol.
Ebi...I hope you figure out what it is. Although I would think if it were bedbugs, your husband would have the symtoms also. For some reason I am thinking that the stuff they sell for lice will kill bedbugs as well. Maybe you can get ahold of MelissaOrlando, her husband may have some insight for you.
And what hotel was it so we know not to go there;-)
Thanks girls! I don't think it's bedbugs after all. I seem to be having a reaction to somthing and it's caused my elbows to have TONS of little welty things on them that itch like a mother f-er!
We stayed at Ocean Key Resort on the North end of Duval St. We drove past the beach, but I was surprised by how very little "beach" there is on Key West! Having never been there prior I always just imagined it being surrounded by beach! Water, yes...sandy beachy area...no so much!
MrsDMC - thanks for remembering me!
Ebi, I'm sorry you are dealing with that! I'm glad it's not bed-bugs!!! Maybe you touched a different plant down there or something. I've only had hives once and it was from touching a plant that I had a reaction to.
I do think it's strange that it seems to be on your joints. Could it be psoriasis? Or eczema? I have eczema, but it tems to be on the INSIDES of my elbows and knees...
Hope you feel better soon!
Great idea! I forgot all about Calamine lotion. I have some so I will give that a try. I actually may go see a dr because it's not getting any better and it's driving me nuts!
How are you feeling Melissa? I still can't believe that you are pregnant!!!!!
