We are trying to cancel our phone service today.  My husband (God bless him) has been on the phone with them all freaking morning.  They basically are trying to charge us to cancel our service.  Um, hell no.  We did not sign a contract.  And we already paid for the freaking modem.  No, we will not buy another one.

Assholes.  Just wait till I get home...

wow! that's crazy! glad i still have the old school Bellsouth phone and internet! i do have Cox cable though....but its just basic cable.

Do you want me to go back and check my bill to see if that happened to me? After we talked I thought about it, I don't think I paid a deposit it was the installation and that's where they charged for the modem. So if you ave that, check it instead.

Nah, thanks though.  I know where all the paperwork is so I'll check it when I get home.  Husband just called back and told me that he got a supervisor to agree to have someone come install the new modem for us instead of H having to go pick it up.  We still have to buy the new modem but apparently it's only $20.  I'll still be looking further into this but if we are only out $20 when this is all said and done, I guess that's not too bad.
