Cranberry Orange Chutney
Ingredients
Instructions
1. Finely grate 2 teaspoons zest from orange. Cut away and discard peel and pith from orange, then cut sections free from membranes.
2. Pulse cranberries with zest, orange sections, sugar, and cinnamon in a food processor until finely chopped. Chill, covered, at least 2 hours to allow flavors to develop.
Note: Relish can be chilled up to 3 days.
Appetizers are my absolute favorite to make, so I always make a ton! Here are a few ideas:
- hot crab dip with hard/toasted bread
- lumpia
- crab turnovers (crab is in season now, so I use a lot of it)
- sun dried tomatoe/pesto torte with water crackers
- fondue with fruit, veggies, and bread
- bricks of cheese (can you tell I love cheese?)
For the meal we typically make the following:
- turkey (obviously. we usually use a different method/recipe every year)
- garlic mashed potatoes, I don't use a recipe for this. Just pour whipping cream, sour cream, ranch dressing, butter, and mayo until the consistency is good. I add garlic, salt, and pepper last.
- homemade stuffing - there are a ton of good recipes out there depending on what you like
- sweet rolls
- green bean casserole
- some crazy good sweet potato thing that my MIL makes
- some soup of sorts usually squash, pumpkin, or a bisque
- an obscene amount of pies
- that chutney recipe I posted above - I love that stuff!
I think that might be it! I get most of my recipes from this website, I've made several things from there and they are amazing everytime.
Good luck!

WHAT??! You put f*cking MAYO in your mashed potatoes? GROSS! Gross!

Here's my menu from last year (first year cooking the turkey):
Appetizers:
Meal:
- This turkey (the recipe was very easy to follow & everyone loved it)
- Mashed potatoes (I use baby reds with the skin on & heavy cream, butter, salt & pepper)
- Smashed carrots (my stepbrother is pretty much the only one who eats it & he's the only reason I make it - it's essentially baby food, not recommended)
- Glazed carrots for the rest of us
- Stuffing (I use Pepperidge Farm but don't really follow their directions - I add 1 cup each finely chopped onion & celery to the chicken stock & butter while it simmers. Then I add the stuffing, transfer it all to a casserole dish & heat in the oven until the edges get crispy.)
- Broccoli casserole (the leftovers taste even better)
- Corn (frozen Green Giant stuff, just pop it in the microwave)
- Some kind of rolls (usually Pillsbury crescent rolls)
- Cranberry sauce (we've tried making the fancy recipes in the past, but everyone in my family honestly prefers Ocean Spray straight from the can haha)
- Apple pie that I order from a local bakery & vanilla ice cream
I highly recommend doing as much as possible the day before. I clean & cut up the potatoes the day before, put them in a pot, cover with water, put the lid on & leave them on the stove top until the next day. I prepare the stuffing, stuffed mushrooms, broccoli casserole & turkey and put them in the fridge so all I have to do is pop everything in the oven the next day.Don't knock it until you try it, geeze. It gives it a smooth vinegar taste...
I think your attitude is fvcking gross, what are you, 5?
We don't always do turkey. One year a standing rib roast.
My mom makes this yum corn casserole that is way easy...
frozen corn, cream cheese and butter all melted together!! and salt/pepper to taste. Easy easy and yummmmeee
Our family always has two stuffings , one is oyster and the other more traditional. Last yr i made one with apples in it and it was very very good and moist. Depends how u like it, moist or crunchy. the recipe was Rachel Rays apple n onion stuffin muffins btw...and you make them in muffin pans. Cute to just grab one ...
Always do the green bean casserole which is so easy too. With the Durkee onions on top. Cream of mushroom soup and i like alot of pepper and garlic.
There is a bread recipe that is so easy. You get the frozen little dough balls, let them rise overnight in a bundt pan with a towel or cover, then you melt butter n whatever seasoning you want, either like cinnamon rolls, or herbed garlic bread style, you then drizzle melted butter all over, bake and turn upside down on the plate. It is called bubble bread. Only fill the bundt pan half full of dough balls b/c you'd be surprised how much it makes and its cute!!
I would inject that turkey if you are doing one...we love creole butter from Tony Chacheries!!! And baste him often...
of course desserts too...mulled apple cider?? Mimosa's or bellini's are a champagne drink as well.
i make a spin dip either a hot or cold one and in the cold one it add water chesnuts for a crunch!!
Hope these ideas may help you!! I know it is stressful!!
