local gals - help me find an ugly christmas sweater

Hey ladies,

I'm going to an ugly Christmas sweater party in December.  Anyone seen any good ugly sweaters on Oahu??   DH and I both need one.   Sears i think might be a good option.  And ebay if i get desperate. Any suggestions??

 Thanks.

Re: local gals - help me find an ugly christmas sweater

  • Maybe check the thrift stores before hitting up Sears? I'm sure lots of people unload their ugly Christmas sweaters after the regret and 'WTF was I thinking' hits them so you might have some luck there. Your party sounds like fun! Good luck finding the ugliest sweaters you can!

  • Walmart and Kmart probably have some.  If you want to go "vintage fug" try a local Salvation Army, etc. (although in Hawaii it's debatable if they even carry sweaters!)...eBay would be good too.
  • The pp's have a great suggestions.

Now that should be a fun party! Hope you take a photo of your treasured finds and PIP for us :)

  • Sears would be a good place to start, although I've only seen ugly sweatshirts and not sweaters.

Perhaps the aloha stadium swap meet?

  • If Hawaii does not offer many ugly sweaters, you could always make one!  It would be fun to get a cheap sweater and embellish it.  You could get plenty of tacky stuff at the craft store and glue it or sew it on.

  • good will / salvation army are great ideas.   I hadn't thought of that.  DH is all into making them. He really wants to win the "Ugliest Sweater" contest.

That sounds like a fun drink-night activity.  It would be really tacky if you bought tiny stuffed Christmas toys and sewed them on.  I wonder if there is a tutorial.

Forget about sewing.  Too labor-intensive.  I'd use the hot glue gun.  Stick out tongue

  • I've always wanted to bedazzle or bejewel (I can't remember what that thing is called) something.  Not like I'd ever wear it...  It would be interesting to bedazzle some Christmas designs on a sweater!
  • Ha! We also got invited to an ugly christmas sweater party! Actually, SIL is throwing it. It should be fun! We don't have an outfit yet but I was browsing on ebay the other day and they got tons (just search for ugly christmas sweater). I'm thinking JC Penney or Kohl's would have some too? Goodwill/Salvation Army may also have them. GL! I wanna see pics of your ugly sweater :-).
