Groups in need of gifts

Dh's family has decided to adopt a family or donate to a charity instead of giving gift to each other.  We are looking for groups to donate to in the area. Any ideas?

I know that in Saint Charles County, one of the judges puts together a drive for gift cards for the foster kids in his county.  Typically they are like 10 dollar gift cards from a fast food restaurant.  ALot of times these kids don't get much beyond on that.

If you want to PM me I can either give you the name of the Judge for you to contact him directly or I can give you the name of the woman collecting all the gift cards.


Many of the churches in the area have trees that have names of folks who are in need of items. Last year our family needed underwear socks and a sweatshirt. Typically when we adopt a family they don't ask for much but we always throw in goodies.

There is also a maternity home (Our Lady's Inn) that has homeless pregnant women who live there, maybe collecting a whole slue of baby items and donating there?

Try 100 Neediest Cases.  We adopt families at work every year, including this year ( I happen to be the captain of the adoption this year) and we always go through 100 Neediest.  Though there are acually around 1400 families up for "adoption" - not 100 as the name implies.  They are supported by United Way.

ALIVE is a great organization and does the Adopt a Family but it will be too late for this year. Please help next year though it is such a great cause.
